After completing your probationary mission, you’ll receive your first task. While it’s supposed to be simple, not all is as it seems. You’ll want to come prepared with ammo and Med Packs to make it through and complete your goal. Otherwise, you’re in for a rough ride.
How To Unlock Grunt Work
After youjoin the UC Vanguardand pass your exam, you canundertake your probationary mission, Grunt Work. Yourfirst task is comms repair–as the comms wentout on Tau Ceti IInot long after they were set up.
Commander Tuala sends you tospeak with Crew Chief Herathabout the materials you’ll need to deliver to fix things up. you’re able to find him at theJemisonspaceport. He’ll set you up with acomms repair suiteand send you on your way.
You’ll get a welcome kit withMed Packs and Ship Partsto help you on your first mission. Use them wisely.
How To Make Contact
Head toTau Ceti IIin the Tau Ceti System. You’ll land at theTai Gourmet Production Center, where you’ll find an underwhelming welcome. Approach the settlement, and you’ll find a few dead settlers.
As you get closer to the meat packing plant, you’ll hearan inhuman screamup ahead. Your objective will be updated toinvestigate the scream, sending you further into the settlement.
Not long after you descend the stairs, you’ll hearHadrian call outto you. Whatever did thisknows you’re here, but Hadrien has unlocked the door to thesecond floor of the main building. Hurry up to her and be quiet.
If you’ve been paying attention, it’ll be no surprise that the sound you heard earlier came from aTerrormorph on the loose. Hadrian warns you it’s not like the others: it’s an anomaly. That’s why she came here, but clearly, the damage was done.
Asking Hadrian questions will reveal thatTerrormorphs only manifest in worlds that have been colonized for a long time, but Tau Ceti II is too new for that, which makes this Terrormorph all the more concerning given their tendency to control “weaker” species.
Hadrianneeds a sample from the Terrormorph, which means you’ll need to kill it. Her idea is toget the security system back upand running, but that meansaccessing the terminalin the center of the facility.
How To Restore The Security System Connection
To reach the terminal, you’ll need tohead out back to the neighboring building. Interact with the terminal to reset the connection.Hadrian will contact youand ask you toaccess another terminal in the adjoining room.
Be sure to loot the area for equipment, ammo, and consumables. You’ll need them for the fight to come, and it helps to be familiar with your surroundings.
This one willactivate the livestock tracking systemso you can keep tabs on the Terrormorph.Tune it to 183.5,and then turn the system on. One target is detected, but you’ll have towait for the system to reengage.
How To Kill The Terrormorph
You’ll have to get the Terrormorph tochase you down the kill lanesHadrian brought online, but you’ll also have toget them powered back up.
The kill lanes willneed additional power and timeto get back online, and moving around will draw the Terrormorph’s attention. If you engage directly with the Terrormorph, be prepared to run.
TheTerrormorph is tough, but you can take it down without the kill lanes if you have to. It moves quickly, jumps onto platforms, and can burrow to sneak up on you. Be sure tohaveMed Packs readyin case you get too close or get taken by surprise.
Weapons like the ExterminatorKodamaare recommended for theirExterminatortrait, granting 30 percent more damage to aliens.
Once the Terrormorph is dead,collect the sampleto bring back to Hadrian.Follow her downstairsso you can bothexamine the sample under a microscopeand find out what made this Terrormorph different. Unfortunately, the equipment is too old to use.
Talk to Hadrianabout her theory, and you’ll learn that there are two options: either someone isintentionally setting Terrormorphs looseon colonized worlds, or theTerrormorphs' growth pattern is changing.
What To Do With The Sample
Hadrian needs a hospital, and she needs to call in a few favors toget more data on Terrormorphs. While she does that, your next job is todeliver the sample to Dr. Percival Walkerat theTrade Authority onMars.
