The Key Ingredients quest inStarfieldis one of the concluding faction missions assigned by Ryujin Industries in the Ryujin Industries quest line, which has you serving the giant megacorporation in return for substantial rewards. The mission picks up from your investigations in the last mission, ‘Guilty Parties.’
After you discover that a mole within Ryujin Industries is leaking confidential information to their rival Infinity LTD, you are summoned by the CEO to deal with the situation. The CEO wants you to secure a mining shipment for a Neuroamp, which you will use to infiltrate Infinity LTD.
The Key Ingredient: Initial Dialogues
After completing the Guilty Parties quest,head to the Research and Development floorin the Ryujin Tower, whereyou will meet Masako, Camden, and Veena Karla(head of research and development).
The Key Ingredientsquest is only available for players following the Ryujin Industries factionquest line whohave completed the first nine missionsuntil Guilty Parties.
The initial dialogues here are only crucial for the overall context and briefing of the mission. As such,you don’t have to make any critical choicesto steer yourself in the right direction.
With this context, Masako and Veena will brief you on the next course of action.Your job in the Key Ingredients mission is to recover a shipmentand find out what happened at a mining station.
The mining station is‘CM Station RC-1' onCarinae III-ain theCarinaesystem.
By the end of the dialogue,you will also receive a keycard from Camden to access the minesand get to the research and control tower.
How To Investigate The CM Station RC-1
After you finish the dialogues,go to the moon Carinae III-a in the Carinae star system. Land on the CM Station RC-1 andhead into the mines. Once you are inside the mine,you will receive the following two objectives:
Make sure tobring appropriate weaponry alongwith you since the station will be filled with high-level Ecliptic mercenaries.
How To Clear The Mine
You mustfight the Ecliptic mercenaries inside the mine to reach the research and control tower. Inside the mine, head straight anddrop to the path on your left. Once you get to the giant caved area,follow the path on your right.
This stretch ofthe mine is armed with turrets, so be careful while moving forward since they can drain your health quite quickly.
After clearing this,head straight to the point where you come across a liftand some machinery. Use the switch on the lift toreach the research and control tower.
Open the door and once againclear the Ecliptic contractors and agents. Afterwards,interact with the computer in the tower to read the shipment logs.
You will discover that theRyujin shipment has been redirected to a location called ‘The Clinic.‘This will complete the ‘Find the Roihicite shipment’ objective.
After you read the shipment logs in the research and control tower, you will trigger another mission objective,‘Read the contract.‘You will findthe contract on the body of the Ecliptic Specialistthat you eliminated in this area.
The contract states that theEcliptic mercenaries had orders to retrieve and redirect the Ryujin shipmentto Dr. Kendrick Lane at The Clinicin theNarionsystem. After reading the contract orders, your mission objectives will be updated to:
Travel to the clinic in the Narion System.
How To Secure The Shipment At The Clinic
The Clinic is a space Medical Facility in the Freestar Collective space. After they have cleared you to dock,board the space station and look around for your objective markeron the right side.
The objective is in the secure wingguarded by a Freestar guard. To enter the area,you must persuade the guard at the front doorto give you an access keycard.
Just in case your persuasion fails, it is a good idea tosave your game before approaching the guard. However, if you manage to rush towards the door after making the guard hostile,you can also unlock the door yourself by using digipicks.
Find Dr. Lane And Retrieve The Shipment
Inside the secure wing,Sam from the lab staff will stop you againsince this is a restricted area. Here,you may lie to himby claiming that Infinity LTD sent you, so you could personally update them on the lab’s progress.
After lying to the staff,you will receive an optional objective to talk to Dr. Kendrick Lane. Although this is an optional objective,you can complete it to avoid hostile interactionsin the Secure Wing.
While talking to Dr. Lane,you can lie that you are from Infinity LTD and need a verbal report from Dr. Lane. Afterwards, when Dr. Lane asks if you want anything else,tell him that you are here to retrieve the Roihicite shipmentfor Infinity LTD.
Dr. Lane will ask you topick up the shipment from the table before his desk.
If you pick up the Roihicite shipment briefcasebefore you talk to Doctor Lane, it will turn everyone hostile toward you, andyou will have to either fight your way through the area or run. If you haven’t accessed Dr. Lane’s computer yet (toread about Project Dominion), you will have to unlock it using digipicks.
Once you have the Roihicite shipment and you have received Dr. Lane’s report (or read the Project Dominion files on his computer),the following objectives will be complete:
Return To Veena At The Ryujin Tower
After completing all mission objectives,return to the Ryujin Tower at Neonand report your findings to Veena and Masako on the research and development floor. After your arrival at the Ryujin Tower,give the shipment to Veenaandbrief Masako about the Ecliptic situation.
Once you are done with the Dialogues, your mission will be complete, and you may progress further into the faction quest line. For completing the mission,you will receive the following rewards:
