Many may recognize Merlin. Long, pointy white beard and an equally long blue hat and robe, and a wizard of renown from Disney’s The Sword in the Stone. Merlin shows up inDisney Dreamlight Valleyas a villager, and much like his role in the movie, he’ll act as a mentor to you.

He’ll teach you recipes, help you master Dreamlight magic, and on occasion, need your help. This guide will show you how to complete his first friendship quest, A New Enchantment.
How To Begin The Quest
This quest becomes available as soon as youreach friendship level two with Merlin, complete The Dream Castle quest, and finish two of Scrooge’s quests, Making Cents Of Things and Scrooge’s Grand Re-Opening.
This can be done by having daily discussions with him, as well as gifting him items, especially his favorites. Once the quest prompt appears over Merlin’s head, speak to him. Merlin will inform you that he’s doing some experiments in the Valley and wantsten Dream Shardsso he can turn them into a potion.
How To Collect Dream Shards And Dreamlight
Dream Shards can be obtained in several ways.They can be dropped when removing Night Thorns, digging into raised, shining spots in the ground,or sometimes when giving critters their favorite foods.Once you’ve collected 10 Dream Shards, bring them back to Merlin to progress.
He’ll ask you to convert the Dream Shards into Dreamlight next. This can bedone at any crafting stationandthe option is found under the Potions & Enchantment tab. Ten Dream Shards will make a bundle of 500 Dreamlight, which is automatically added to your total Dreamlight. After you’ve done that, return to Merlin once more.
Collecting The Items For Merlin
Talk to Merlin again and he’ll tell you that he wants to examine some of the plants that grow in the Valley. He’ll ask you to collectfour Dandelions, four White Daisies, six Apples and six Bananas.
How To Test The Enchantment
Speak with Merlin again and then follow him to the Peaceful Meadows. He’ll direct you to a patch of purple mushrooms near the entrance to the Glade of Trust.Water them with your Royal Watering Can and they’ll disappear.
The enchantment on your watering can is supposed to disappear afterward, so don’t worry when it does. Speak to Merlin one last time to finish the quest and receive your reward of 180 Friendship with Merlin.
