Honkai: Star Railhas some mechanics that make it stand out from other games in the adventure RPG genre and make it fundamentally different from many other gacha games following the same formulas for the key elements of their gameplay.

One of the most convenient features the game introduced is one that is rarely seen in grindy games; the ability to make custom-fitted Relics. Well, in a sense, at least. This is a strange but welcome addition to the popular pity systems that serve to balance the high stakes in gacha games. Like all new things, this also has its learning curve that you will want to master.

How To Craft Relics

Crafting Relicshas a process that is similar to that ofConsumables or Materials; you will need tobegin by accessing the Synthesizer, which can be done from the physical synthesizerin the Astral Express' Parlor Caror fromyour Cellphone’s menuwherever you are.

The Synthesizer defaults to the Consumables screen, which isfirst in the order at the top bar. For crafting Relics, you will need toswitch to the fourth option.

Once you select it the game will show you the2-pieceand4-piece bonuses for the set you have chosen, and right under it, you will finda list for all its different craftables.

All sets will show you an option to crafteach of the Relic parts you need for a full set; you will see options to craftHead pieces, Hands pieces, Body pieces, and Feet pieces. For Ornament sets, you will also be able to choose betweencrafting either a Rope or a Sphere.

Once you have chosen a piece,a new screen will openin which you will be able to seethe name of the piece and how many you currently own, including those that areequipped by characters.

In this screen, you will also see the cost of crafting and a slider to adjust how many pieces you want to craft. Each Relic has a set cost of100 Relic Remains per piece, regardless of the kind of piece it is.

The last thing to note about this screen is theoption to customize the Relic synthesis, which is an option that shows up right under the big picture of the Relic. As its name states, selecting this option will let you change some aspects of a Relic pieceto suit your needs.

The choices for customizing a Relic will belimited to the potential stats each Relic might have, and thesub-stats will always be randomregardless, so while crafting a custom Relicguarantees usability, itdoes not guarantee the piece you craft will be good.

Keep in mind,Head pieces and Hand pieces cannot be customized, as their stats are fixed to Flat HP (head) and Flat Attack (Hands) and will never vary.

Customizing a Relicrequires the same 100 Relic Remainsto craft a brand-new Relic. It isimpossible to customize existing Relics. Furthermore, you will need one Self-Modeling Resin per piece.

How To Get Self-Modeling Resin

Self-Modeling Resin is a mysterious moldable material that canused in the crafting process to shape Relics at will, which is precisely its in-game purpose; to let youmodify a Relic’s main stat.

This precious resource is a littlehard to come by, but there area few ways to get your hands onsome pieces of it.

Theeasiest and most straightforward way is toreach Level 40 in Nameless Honor, Honkai: Star Rail’s battle pass. While level 40 is rather high for some, you may reach it quite easily bycompleting a few high-paying tasks a week.

Self Modeling Resin is not paywalled behind the premium option, so youdon’t need to purchase the battle passto get it.

The other option to procure some Self-Modeling Resin is toparticipate in limited-time events, as it isoften in the reward poolfor these events. Of course, this isn’t guaranteed to be the case in every event, so it is recommended that you keep an eye out for version updates and new events as they drop and avoid missing the opportunity tograb some extras.

Be prepared to grind a lot during events, though. Self Modeling Resin is often given asone of the maximum rewardsfor events, which youmay only get towards the events' end, after you have completed most of the activities.

How To Get Relic Remains

Relic Remains are a special materialthat will allow you to craft new Relics. They are, as their name states, theremains of other Relicsthat were essentially corroded or otherwise nearly “ground to dust.” This is theonly material you will need to craft new relic pieces.

Themain wayto get Relic Remains is bySalvaging all Relics you will not be using. However, you should keep in mind thatonly five-star Relicswill turn into Relic Remains.

Salvagingone five-star Relicwill give youten Relic Remains, which means you will generally need toSalvage ten five-star Relics to have enough materials to craft a new Relic.

You can getRelic Remainswhen youreach level 40inNameless Honor, but it’s a premium reward, meaningit’s not free. However, they’re easier to obtain than Self-Modeling Resin, so thecost isn’t a big concern here.
