You might have fought against a bunch of bosses inRemnant 2, but there’s nothing quite like Annihilation. After beating four areas and their bosses, you’ll reach the Root Earth area that looks just like Earth, except it’s deeply corrupted. At the end of this area, you’ll battle Annihilation alongside Clementine.

Annihilation is the only boss in the game that regenerates its health fully when you defeat it first. Moreover, if you’re defeated during the second phase after it regenerates its health, you’ll have to start the battle from the first phase all over again.

Annihilation First Phase Guide

When you reach the third area of Root Earth, you’ll see a giant tree but its entrance will be blocked with a red barrier.Clementine will break this barrier whenever you’re ready, and you’ll enter battle with Annihilation. During the first phase, the boss takes the form of a dragon that rapidly attacks you.

One of these attacks is where the boss charges its sword toslam it into the ground where you’re standing. The only way to dodge this attack is by paying attention to the sound. As soon as you hear a sword charging sound, you have to press the dash button. The same can be said about another attack where the boss produces a tremor.

Remnant 2 Annihilation Boss Sword Attack

In this attack, Annihilation holds its sword with both hands and sticks it into the ground, producing acircular tremor that quickly expands all over the battlefield and deals a lot of damage. This attack can be followed up by multiple other attacks:

If you don’t see the boss going back up after the first slam, it’srecommended to dash almost immediatelyto avoid the explosion.

Sometimes, you’ll also see the boss put its sword on the ground and stay there for a second. After that, the sword will light up and the boss charges directly at you after. Once that is done, Annihilation goes high up in the air and strikes the ground once again, producing a tremor similar to the previous attacks.

You can also see some circular electric areas on the ground during the fight. You’ll take damage if you’re in these areas when they explode, but they also have a chance of dropping some ammo after. This is how you can refill your ammo in this phase.

Annihilation Second Phase Guide

As soon as the boss reaches zero health in the first phase, you’ll be teleported to a different location where you’ll have to fight it all over again. This time,Annihilation will also have a new set of attacks that needs perfect timing to dodge. Once you teleport, the boss always slams a huge blade on the ground near you first.

You’ll have to dodge this attack twice. First, you have to dodge the blade slam and then you’ll hear another sword sound cue, andyou have to dodge it again since the boss drags the blade to the corner. There are two more attacks where the boss puts the blade on the far left or the far right side.

Remnant 2 Giant Blade Near Main Character

Just like the first attack, you have to dodge these twice at roughly the same time. When the bosstakes the blade from the right side to the left, some ammo will spawn on the field when the attack ends. In this phase, the boss' small head is its weakspot, which can be quite hard to attack as well.

Once Annihilation’s health drops below 75 percent here, it’ll start switching between the first and the second phase. The attack pattern here is always the same, so you’ll have to accept defeat a couple of times until you memorize it. Here are the main things you need to remember:

Remnant 2 Annihilation Second Phase Attack

After a bunch of switches, the boss spawns six pairs of orange crystals on the glitchy side. It’s highly recommended to get rid of these pairs as soon as possible sinceAnnihilation goes into a vulnerable state for a few secondsonce you do it. The orbs will also simultaneously spawn on the dragon side as well, but these won’t put it into the vulnerable state.

If you don’t remove these orbs, they’re likely the highest damage-dealing attackfrom Annihilation.

Remnant 2 Annihilation Orange Orbs In Second Phase

You can dodge them if you only have one pair left, but there’s no way of dodging multiple pairs at the same time.

Once the vulnerable state ends, the boss continues to switch between the phases. You have to get rid of all its health to defeat the boss and end the game. Although, you canstill log back into the game and continue exploring even after it ends. Upon defeating Annihilation, you get a new item to get a new Archetype.

Moreover, the boss alsogives you the Forgotten Memory material and unlocks a new trait called Scholar.
