How To Beat Eviterno, First Of The Penitents In Phase One
Phase number oneagainst Eviterno is thesimplest of the bunch, offering onlyfour attacks you must watch out for, withone of them having a massive weaknessfor Eviterno built into it for you to take advantage of. This encounter is long and very challenging, sotry your best not to use any Bile Flasks here(Easier said than done, we know).
Fire Orb
Eviterno’sfirst attackin phase one has himsummon an enormous Fire Orbbefore hesends it hurtling toward youon the ground.Run away from where the Orb will land, wait for it to make contact with the ground, thenDouble Jump and Air Dash toward Eviterno.
If timed correctly, you willbarely graze the top of the explosionsthat follow the Orb, allowing you toclip through it without taking damage. You canbegin to attack Eviterno directly after performing your Air Dash, which we suggest doing!

Snake Orbs
Next up is hisSnake Orbs, essentially having himlaunch two stacks of six Orbs toward you that weave through one another, almostlooking like a pair of snakesmoving toward you. He willperform this action three times in a row after teleporting behindyou each time.
You canslide under them, Air Dash through the center of them, or Air Dash through them if timed correctly. However you decide to handle them, ensure youhit him once or twice after each dodgeto begin chipping away at his health early!

Red Lightning
Red Lightningis another one of his attacks in his first phase, having himsend vertically oriented beams of Red Lightning toward you, forcing you toAir Dash through them to avoid taking damage.
We suggestonly attacking him after he sends out the final Red Lightning beam.Otherwise, you will likely take substantial damage here, which will be troublesome for the latter phases of the encounter!

Orb Clusters
Our last attack is the most crucial one to keep an eye out for, and that’sEviterno’s Orb Clusters, which has himlaunch a group of four Orbs at you. There will bethree Red Orbs and one Green Orb,and theGreen Orb is your secret weapon.
If youhit the Green Orb with your weapon,it willget knocked back toward Eviterno, with ahigh chance of hitting him.If theGreen Orb makes contact with Eviterno,it willtemporarily stun him, enabling you toland several uncontested attackson him.

When he’s in this stunned state, westrongly urge you to go haywire on him with the Veredico(Flail) anduse the Debla of the Lights Prayerto shave off large chunks of his health!
How To Beat Eviterno, Last Desecrator In Phase Two
Afterfullydepleting Eviterno’s health,he willpull the sword from the corpse in front of his throne, regenerate his health, and become absolutely unbearable. This phase is not fun. Just warning you now.
Eviterno hasroughly eight attacksthis phase, withtwo of them being combos,so you canessentially count them as one long attack,as he willalways perform the same attacks after a specific one.Nonetheless, that doesn’t make this portion of the encounter any less annoying, so let’s dive into it!

Broadslash Combo
Kicking offphase two,Eviterno will almost always go into hisBroadslash Combo, having himcharge toward you before unleashing a wide-reaching slashwith his sword. As hebegins chargingtoward you,Double Jump and Air Dash behind him.
After that, he willteleport behind you and go for a quick slashwith his sword. Thiscan also be avoided by jumping. Do not Air Dash here, oryou will get caught by the following attack, which closes out the combo.

To close out this action, Eviterno willswing his sword over his head and onto the ground with tremendous force, creating shockwaves of bloodto hisleft and right.Immediatelyafter landing from the previous attack, perform aDouble Jump, then Air Dash over the shockwaveto evade taking damage.
Upon landing after evading the shockwave,Eviterno will be in aprolonged recovery period, enabling you toland a solid three to four hits on him.We suggest always taking this opportunity as they are a rarity. Trust us.

Next up is hisOverhead Slash, having Eviternojump through the air toward you before performing a devastating Overhead Punging Attackthatcauses micro-explosions of blood to eruptfrom the ground.
When yousee him take flight, you caneither begin sliding forward to pass underneath him,or you can time a well-placed Double-Jump and Air Dash to pass over the top of himjust before he lands. Either method is excellent as it willplace you directly behind him.

Once behind him, you canland several hits of your own and can even use a quick Debla of the Lights Prayerto carve away a sizeable chunk of his health!
Oval Slash
HisOval Slashis up next andoften begins being mixed into his rotationof attacks when younearly get him down to half health. This attack isquite irritating to deal with,as Eviterno willleap into the air before briefly outlining the circumference of the attackand then letting it rock.
You caneither time your jump and try getting into the middleof the Oval Slash to avoid taking damage, or you canbegin spamming your Evade to hopefully slide out of the area of effect in timebefore you get hit.Either method is risky and very hardto do, butwe recommend trying to Evade your way outof it.
Regardless, youcannot hit him here, so just focus on trying to avoid taking damage,as this attack is one of the ones that hurts the most!
Blood Projectiles
Possibly his most tame move of the second phase is hisBlood Projectile, essentiallyhaving him throw out a Bleeding Miracleat you.Simply jump over itto avoid taking damage.Double Jumping toward Eviterno and Air Dashingwill put you in position to land a hit or twoas well!
Rising Slash Combo
Finally, hislast attack in phase twois hisRising Slash Combo. He begins the series of attacks with adevastating strike with his sword, lifting his entire body off the ground as he swings it upward.Evade away from himto avoid this attack, thenjump to create space.
Next,as he’s airborne, he will perform an Aerial Slash, having himcover a wide range in front of him with a broad downward swipe.Continue running awayfrom him like you were with the previous attack, then prepare for the final leg of the combo.
After those attacks,Eviterno will close the combo out with an Overhead Slam, which you willhandle the same exact way as you did earlier.Since this ispart of a combo, however,he will be much closer to you,but youcan still Double Jump and Air Dash behind him, giving you the same setup!
How To Beat Eviterno, Last Desecrator In Phase Three
WithEviterno’s health dropped 3/4th of the way down,he willbegin his third phase, whichfortunately doesn’t have him regenerate any health. This phase islargely similar to the secondone, aside fromone bizarre section that kicks it off, placing you in apitch-black room with phantoms of the past bossesyou’ve killed. Fun!
During this phase’s pitch-black room sections, you cannot inflict damage on Eviterno, so just avoid the phantoms and him at all costs during that part!
Phantom: Lighting Dash/Plungin Flame
After Eviterno summons a fierce cyclone around himself, he will transport you into a pitch-black room. Your first two enemies will be the phantoms of Orospina and Lesmes.
First, focus on Orospina, as she will perform her Lightning Dash and charge toward you with her lightning-imbued rapier. Double Jump and Dash over her, then dash toward the left corner of the arena, sliding underneath Lesmes' Ground Pound.
Phantom: Flame Cyclone/Fury Spikes
Afteravoiding Lesmes' Ground Pound,he willsummon a series of Flame Cyclones, andInfanta will joinin byfiring off his Fury Spikes. However, if youmade it into the far left corner, both ofthese attacks will completely whiff, having you avoid damage entirely!
Phantom: Spiked Pillar Ceiling
Next up isBenedicta, who willdrop a series of Spiked Pillars from the ceilingonto you. She willbegin from the side she’s at,which will be thefar right, somake your way over toward her, butlet the first Spiked Pillar fall.
After the first Spiked Pillar falls, quicklyslide underneath the second oneas it begins to descend, thenstand idly by until the rest follow suitto avoid taking damage!
Phantom: Charging Spear
Ourlast phantomisOdón,who willcharge at you before performing a wide slashwith his lance. SimplyDouble Jump just before he reaches you, thenAir Dash over him to evade the moveand avoid taking damage!
Eviterno: Oval Slash
From here, continue heading left after you leap over Odón’s attack,asEviterno will appear in the centerof the screen andperform an Oval Slash.Standing in thefar left corner will avoid the attack entirely, having the area shift back to phase two!
Repeat Phase Two
After emerging from the pitch-black room,Eviterno will proceed to go back to what he was doing in phase two.Everything ishandled the same exact wayas before, andhe gains no new attackshere. Simply do what you did to reach this point, and you’re golden!
