There are several formidable fights inBaldur’s Gate 3, and while Lorroakan himself isn’t difficult, the Myrmidons he summons are. He can take a while to defeat if you’re unprepared. Even if you use potions and strategize, the tables can turn in an instant.

To defeat Lorroakan, you’ll need a solid plan, strong party members, and a bit of luck. Thankfully, you won’t be alone in the fight, but it will still be a frustrating encounter to get through unless you know what to do. The close-quarters combat isn’t ideal, but there are ways to spread out and bring down the self-righteous magus.

Lorroakan believes himself a god in Baldur’s Gate 3

Updated June 06, 2025, by Sean Murray:Lorroakan might be a blowhard, but he’s also got phenomenal cosmic power. That’s why we’ve refreshed this guide to take him down a few notches thanks to updated formatting and more links to other helpful Baldur’s Gate 3 topics.

How To Find Lorroakan

When you enter the city of Baldur’s Gate, head to Sorcerous Sundries. You’ll need to head up the stairs andenter the blue portalto reach Lorroakan’s tower.

When you meet Lorroakan,he’ll interrogate youabout the Nightsong. He wants to imprison her to sustain his own immortality, like Ketheric Thorm, which leads to a difficult battle if you decide toprotect Dame Aylin.

Lorroakan hoped you’d have an open mind in Baldur’s Gate 3

ensure toheal Dame Aylin before speaking to her. If she had taken damage during the battle at Moonrise Towers, she will not have recovered her HP (even after long rests). You’ll want her at full health before challenging Lorroakan.

Thebattle won’t start until you talk to Nightsong and return to Lorroakan’s tower. Take time to prepare for the upcoming battle before rushing in.

How To Win The Battle

Deciding against trapping Nightsong once againinitiates combat with Lorroakanand his elemental Myrmidons. While youwon’t be outnumbered(with both Nightsong and Rolan on your side), you’relikely to be outmatchedwithout a decent strategy.

There are a few ways todeal with the enemiesyou’ll face. With a bit of planning (and a few good rolls) you’ll come out on the other side with somefancy loot and the Nightsongintact.

Crowd Control

One of the most important things to start with isslowing the enemies. Unless you’re lucky enough todo well with initiative, you’ll fall somewhere along themiddle of the turn order.

However you canreduce the movement speed of your enemies, do it. TheMyrmidons and Lorroakanwill deal wicked damage andjump around the tower. Slowing them down buys you time to regroup and attack.

Not all enemies will be affected by spells like Slow, but the ones that are can be taken out more easily.

You’ll alsowant to spread outas soon as you can. Lorroakan initiates the fight andyour party is trappedin the entryway. If you don’t move quickly, you’ll be blocked inby the Myrmidons.

Try topick off Miklaur and Krankfirst, as they are the weakest enemies.Bring Astarion todeal extra damagewith sneak attacks to eliminate foes faster.

Dealing With The Myrmidons

Surprisingly,Lorroakan isn’t your biggest problem. While he can use AoE spellsto wipe out your party, the real trouble comes from the Myrmidons he siphons power from.

There arefour Myrmidons to deal within the tower:Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Each one has unique resistances you’ll want to examine before attacking.

You can stillapply conditions like Burning and Wetto the elemental Myrmidons. Doing so will allow you to reap the damage bonuses. For example, you can deal double lightning damage if the Air Myrmidon is wet. Take advantage of the area to sweep the field.

Eliminating them will take some time, and there’s no consistent formula for success. Your best bet is topick one and whittle awayat it. For a better shot, follow Dame Aylin’s leadand attack the enemies she does.

Bringplenty of potionsfor healing, as the Myrmidons deal plenty of damage. The one encased in firewill use Hellish Rebukewhenever possible, sostay away or bring Karlachto absorb the damage.

Sometimes the Myrmidons get too close to the edges of the tower floors, specifically by the floating furniture. They can sometimes slip down and take damage from their own spells and attacks.

Defeating Lorroakan

Lorroakan isn’t so tough, but it’shis allies that make him stronger. If you attack him while the Myrmidons still stand, he can siphon their power toattack you right back.

Use the room to your advantage. Climb the ladders to the upper platforms to get the high-ground bonus applied to your attacks.

Spells likeMoonbeamwill continually affecthim, though you can alsounleash your strongest spellon him in hopes of taking him down in one hit. You can alsosend Karlach to deal with himquickly.

you’re able to alsotry to silence himso that he can’t cast spells. Doing so will make it easier to handle him up close.

Make sure toexamine Lorroakan’s stats. The Myrmidons give him additional boosts while he siphons their power, so you’ll want to be cautious about what kind of damage you deal.

Taking out Lorroakan willcomplete the quest, though you’ll still have to finish the combat. However,Krank will fallonce his master does. Unfortunately, theMyrmidons will remainuntil you defeat them.

Once Lorroakan is finished, Dame Aylin willunleash her furyon him.Rolan will inherit the towerif he still lives, and you’ll havesecured new allies. You can loot the tower for your reward and break into theSorcerous Sundries vaultwhile you’re at it.
