How To Beat Odón Of The Confraternity Of Salt
As mentioned above,Odón of the Confraternity of Salt has only one phasebutalaundry list of moves within it,forcing you tolearn how to adapt and counter his onslaught. While he willenhance some of his actions, it’s not enough to consider it an additional phase,as the rest of his kit remains the same.
In this one phase, you will constantly be tasked withlearning how to dodge his incoming attacks, focus his minions, and when to get your own hits in.You can learn his staggering11 actionsin the sections below and how to deal with them properly!

Plunging Spear
Thefirst attackOdón will likely throw out every time is hisPlunging Spear, having himleap high into the air until he disappears off-screen before slamming into the groundwith his lance with tremendous force, creating high waves of water on both sidesof him.
To avoid taking damage here, wait for him to disappear from the screen, thenEvade to the right or left just before he lands, thenDouble Jump over the waves. When you land, you should be able toget a few hits on him,so take this moment to chip away at his health!

Backspin Slash
Next up in his arsenal is theBackspin Slash, having himplant his legs before swiftly pivoting his upper body toward you while delivering a devastating water-infused slash. This attack israre but very damaging,so always look for it whenever you’re behind him.
Whenever you see himhalt his movement and raise his lance upward, Double Jump and Air Dash in front of himto evade the slash andget several hits on himbefore he moves onto another action.

Summoning Minions
Throughout the entirety of this encounter,Odón willcall forth Spear Minions, starting with apair of them.Killing both Spear Minions will have him call in another wave,so we recommendleaving one alive in the early goingsto avoid having to deal with two of them.
These are thesame Spear Minions you’ve encountered on your way to this bossencounter, so it isn’t something you haven’t dealt with, but dealing with them and Odón simultaneously can get hairy quickly. Still, they are largely ineffective during the beginningof this fight!

Ground Spears
Following that is hisGround Spears, havingOdón raise his lance high into the air before summoning an army of Spear Minions' arms from the ground, creating asea of spears to the left and right of him.
To evade this attack,Double Jump whenever you see Odón raise his lanceinto the air, thenAir Dash toward the corner closest to you.In theearly stages of this fight, they won’t move, allowing you to dodge them by simply heading to the far end of the arena!

Standard Stab
Anotherrare attackof Odón’s is hisStandard Stab, which is precisely what it sounds like, having himtake a step forward before thrusting his lance forward, dealing a decent amount of damage to you on contact.
For this attack, you willsee him lower his lance and take a sizable step forward before swiftly delivering a forceful stab, giving you more than enough time toDouble Jump and Air Dash over him, placing you behind him toland a few hitson him yourself!

Charged Slash
This next attack is a bit more common but not utilized nearly as much as some of his other actions. Still, hisCharged Slashis avery high damagingattack that hasOdón drag his lance across the ground before delivering a devastating thrusting attackimbued with water.
Themoment you see him begin dragging his lance across the ground, perform aDouble Jump, then Dash over him, allowing you togo on the offensive for a brief perioduntil he recovers!

Wave Projectile
Next is hisWave Projectileattack, having himlaunch a sizable wave of water toward youthattravels nearly 3/4 of the stage’s lengthbefore evaporating. This action iswell telegraphed by having Odón halt his movement and fling his lance off the ground forwardto create the wave.
Like most of the other attacks,Double Jumping and Air Dashing over the Wave Projectile will have you avoid taking damageentirely and will place you in front of Odón, allowing you toland a few strikeson him!

Enhanced Waves
After knockingOdón’s health down halfway, hisWave Projectileattack will becomeenhanced, having himlaunch two Waves, one to his right and the other to the left. This istelegraphed by having Odón turning his back to the screen, showing his red cape.
Dodging these Wave Projectiles is handled the same exact wayas last time. You just have tobe more aware of your surroundings,as hecan launch them much fasterthan before!
Enhanced Ground Spears
Another attack of Odón’s that becomesenhancedthe more the encounter drags on is hisGround Spears.Whenknocking him down to half health,he willsummon two waves of Ground Spearstoward you, forcing you toappropriately time your Jumps and Air Dashes to avoidthem both.
After getting hishealth down 3/4th of the way,he willlaunch three waves of Ground Spearsat you, making the window much tighter to dodgethem, butJumping and performing an Air Dash will allow you to evade themaltogether!
Enhanced Summoning Minions
Remaining on the topic ofenhanced attacks,we have theSummoning Minionsaction, havingOdón call forth more and more Spear Minions throughout the course of the encounter.
Dropping him down tohalf healthwill have himcall in three Spear Minions instead of two,and getting hishealth down to roughly 3/4thwill have himsummon four in.Once you get into this stage of the encounter,we suggest dispatching all of them as soon as possible,as ittakes a bit of time for him to call the next wavein.
Youcan also try keeping one alive here as well, butit will become far too chaotic, and your focus will be all over the place,so westrongly advise just eliminating all of themwhenever they appear!
Rallying Call
Lastly,Odón will gain one new actionafter youget his health down 3/4th of the way, this being hisRallying Call, having himraise a large flag made of water high into the air. While this action may not seem like it does much, you shouldfocus on hitting him when you see him raise it.
Odón’sRallying Callwill have himplace Shields around the Spear Minions summoned into the arena, allowing them totake a beating before they die.Fortunately,if you hit him as soon as you see him raise the water flag, you will interrupt the actionand prevent this from happening.
If Odón gets this action off, however, your work will be cut out for you, asyou will have to deal substantial amounts of damage to the Spear Minions to dispose of them.IfOdón’s health is lowhere, wesuggest just going for the killif you’re able to manage it!
