The game likes to hide away many items, weapons, bosses, and events that you’ll no doubt miss on your first run-through if you’re not regularly re-rolling worlds and scraping every corner. So to help you track down this floating rusted monstrosity, here’s a helpful guide on how to beat the Custodian’s Eye boss in Remnant 2.

How To Find The Custodian’s Eye

First things first, how to track down this elusive robotic ravager. As previously mentioned, this large round lad is found in N’Erudand he’s at the end of a dungeon calledthe Spectrum Nexus. It’s an area that will usuallyspawn in the second area of N’Erudon a map that starts in the Seekers Rest. But if you can’t find this particular zone, just load up an adventure and re-roll it a few times until it appears.

Certain dungeons and events in Remnant 2 are on aninternal timer. For example,Blood Moons will re-appear after two to ten hours. So be aware that it may take a while for it to spawn.

You may have to go through a few smaller dungeons first before you find this area as well. Such asThe Hatchery or The Putrid Domain. A good sign is if you havethe Timeless Horizon in the second area of N’Erudasthe Spectrum Nexus is normally found closeto the entrance or exit of this dungeon.

The Spectrum Nexus resembles a large tower from the outside and internally it’sa series of small walkways between towering pillars. If you see that, then you’re in the right area.

How To Beat The Custodian’s Eye

The bosses in Remnant 2 tend toapproach Weak Point placement in two ways. It’s either in an awkward hidden spot that’s revealed after a big attack, or it’s their face. The Custodian’s Eye falls into the latter camp.Theentire front portion of his body is the Weak Pointand if you bulls-eye the center you’ll see some big damage numbers fly off.

You can still take pot-shots at his body, but it won’t dent his health bar too much.Keep all your big hitter attacks focused on his laser-spewing maw. Also, since he’s a machine, the Custodian’s Eye’s attack patterns are easy to predict. So you won’t have too tough a time evading him.

The only issue you may have is that hecycles through his move list frequentlyand some require a bit of platforming that if you mess up, results in instant-death. But we’ll focus on those moves in a moment.

As soon as the fight starts, the floor plates closest to the door will lower. Staying on these will kill you. Somove right to the center, trigger the boss, then back out to the outer ring.

The Custodian’s Eyes Attack’s

Because the Custodian’s Eye has somepretty unique attacks that impact the entire arena, we’re going to take a deep dive into them to give you as much prep as possible for the fight. Mainly because if you’re not quick with the camera and don’tremember to watch your footing, it’ll be all over very quickly.

We’ve categorized them intolow-threat and high-threat moves. The less dangerous attacks are relatively easy to avoid, have more floor space, and usuallycontain plenty of coverto stand behind to catch your breath for a moment. Whilst the more dangerous phases have less cover, more opportunities to fall to your death, and require quite a bit of dexterity to survive.

Remnant 2: The Custodian’s Eye Using A Purple Laser Attack

Low Threat Attacks

First, we’ll take a gander at some of the less panic-inducing moves that the Custodian’s Eye enjoys activating. The floor doesn’t move too much, apart from the outer edges, so you have plenty of space to move around.

There’s alsoplenty of cover in the form of big sturdy pillarsthat you’re able to step behind. Albeit in some cases only briefly. Here are each of the low-threat attacks.

Remnant 2: Fighting The Custodian’s Drones

Purple Beam

First up we have the standard laser move. This is just abig purple beam that will follow you aroundthe room whilst leaving ascorched trail on the floorthat will also damage you if you walk onto it. It’s not too bad and you can get a lot of hits on the boss’s core during this.

Red Beam

The next relatively low-threat attack is abig red beam with some flying dronesto back it up. Thankfully there’s a lot of cover during this phase and you can easilykite the boss around the structuresto keep yourself relatively safe from harm.Take the drones out first, dodge the laser, then rinse the boss with damage before it does the move again.

The red laser will fire off twicein succession. Dodge it or just block the beam with a pillar.

Remnant 2: Rolling Out Of The Way Of The Custodian’s Eye’s Laser

Rapid Fire Energy Balls

This move is all about ahigh rate of fire and high damage numberson anyone unlucky enough to land in the Custodian’s crosshairs. It involves the bosscontinually firing off blue energy ballsand it’s recommended that you avoid dealing damage and just focus on running.

The energy balls deal Critical Hitson contact and it will seriously chunk your health bar if you’re not careful.Stick to hiding behind the pillarsin the room, though don’t stay there too long as these pieces of cover will lower back into the ground. So get ready to change position.

Remnant 2: The Custodian’s Eye Using Its Red Laser Attack

High Threat Attacks

These are the moves that you’ll have a bit of trouble with. Mainly because of the limitations of the arena andthe constant threat of easily walking off a platform to your death. There areno edges or wallsto keep you in and you’ll need todo a lot of movingto stay alive.

Thankfully there aren’t too many of these types of attacks as it’s limited to just two thatinvolve dropping the floor away. Here are both of those attacks in detail and what you need to do.

Remnant 2: The Custodian’s Eye Firing Its Blue Energy Ball Attack

Trap Floor And Red Rotating Laser

Here’s a move that will really get you moving. This attack of the Custodian’s Eye involves a few things. First,it goes to the top of the roomand then turns a large portion of the floor into a deadly trap.Tiles will become markedand after a few moments, they will drop awayinto the void below. There are safe spots to stand on at the corners of the arena, but you’ll need to be fast as falling means instant death.

Remnant 2: Blocking Lasers From The Custodian’s Eye Using A Pillar

Once most of the floor is gone, the Custodian’s Eye will then lower back down and start tocontinually fire off three lasers whilst rotating. To avoid the beams you’re going to need tojump to the adjacent platforms.

On some of these platforms theremay be some pillars, if there are, stop and stay there. Use this as cover to take shots at the boss without having to worry about the lasers.

Using a pillar nerfs this attack.

Circular Floor And Blue Lasers

This phase involves the boss going to the ceiling once again where he startscontinually firing three blue lasers. The outer rings of the floor will stay, butthe inner circle will drop away, so get ready togo to the outer edge of the arenawhen you see him rise.

It’s recommended that youstick to the furthest outer ringyou can reach. The inner ones will lower, butyou’ll be trapped with the world’s worst firing angle. Take a few shots at the boss, thenget ready to runfrom the laser. They’ll trace around the ring after you, so just keep an eye out on where they are as you pop off a few rounds at the custodian’s face.

In general, the middle of the room is the most risky place to be. Try to stick near a corner as it’ll let you get to a safe spot easier.

Boss Attack Cheat Sheet

The Custodian’s Eye willrotate between all of these moves, but the first three are themost common. You can completely bypass some of them if you manage to kill him fast enough, but that’s only possible if you have a seriously strong build.

Since that’s all a lot to take in, to make sure you can remember all that we’ve provided a short cheat sheet to refer back to just before or during the boss if you start to run into trouble. So here’s each attack in brief.

Red laser and flying attack drones.

High-damage, rapid-fired blue energy balls.

Trap Floor And Rotating Laser

The edges of the floor drop away to form platforms and a red rotating laser fires.

Circular Floor And Rotating Laser

The floor drops to form a two-tiered circle. The boss then fires three rotating blue lasers.

Rewards For Beating The Custodian’s Eye

If you manage to successfully endure that assault on your coordination skills then you’ll take home aTome of KnowledgeandThe Sentry’s Old Iris. Or some Scrap if you’ve already got the drops before. If not, thenThe Sentry’s Old Irisis the item that you’ll be very happy to have in your inventory.

The Iris can be given to McCabe and turned into aunique Weapon Modknown asthe Prismatic Driver. This is a pretty good Weapon Mod in Remnant 2 as itfires off a superheated energy zapthat will absolutely melt whatever it’s pointed at.

On contact, this laser hits for25 Mod Damageand if you keep the laser focused on a target, it willeventually trigger an explosion. The detonation deals150 Mod Damage in a three-meter radiusand this mode requires50 Mod Power per laser pulse, which is cheap, so you can use it often. Plus itstacks to a maximum of 30 charges, so there are plenty of zaps in its battery.

The beam can beboosted with rings or amuletsthat enhance Mod Damage.
