Facing the major bosses inLords Of The Fallencan be a real challenge. It’s quite common to find yourself struggling, but that’s all part and parcel of playing a soulslike game like this one. Let’s take the Hushed Saint, for instance. He’s the boss you’ll encounter at the end of the Forsaken Fen area, and he’s quite challenging.
If you’re finding it tough to take him down, this guide is here to lend you a hand in discovering all his attack patterns and providing a strategy to overcome this challenge.

The Hushed Saint Attacks
The Hushed Saint is a powerful knight armed witha halberd,a shield, andeven a horse.
He is your typicaltwo-phase boss, but he also presentstwo different attack patterns, depending on whether he’s on horseback or on foot. With that being said, let’s break it down for you.

Attacks On Mount
When the Hushed Saint is mounted on his horse,he becomes more agileandkeeps circling the area, aiming to trample and launch attacks at you.
While he’s on the move,he often swings his halberd when he gets close to you. This swing can be easily dodged.

However, If you’re at a distance from him,he might throw his weapon at you. To avoid this attack, sidestep just before the weapon reaches you.
As he maneuvers around the arena, he has a unique trick up his sleeve. He can vanish into the ground and reappear in a different spot.

Luckily, you can track his movementsby watching the water.
One of his horse-based attacks involves havinghis steed smash the ground, creating a shockwave that covers a wide area in the arena. The most effective to avoid this one is to quicklydodge forward as the shockwave approaches you.
When he wants to return to fighting on foot, he dismounts his horse by jumping out of it,throws his weapon at you, and thenmoves in to close the distance between you.

Now, let’s talk about the attacks the Hushed Saint performs when he’s on foot.
Attacks On Foot
The Hushed Saint has various moves to be aware of in the fight, along withsome good openingsto use to your advantage.
First,he swings his halberd in a two-hit combo, and you caneither parry or dodge it.

After he finishes, you’ll havea chance to hit him two or three times, but be ready to step back becausehe often counters with an additional swing.
When he’s at a distance,he charges his weapon to dash straight at you. You’ll know he’s about to do thiswhen he readies his weapon.

This is another good time to hit him a couple of times. However, if he manages to pull off this attack,it deals significant damage.
These two moments offer good chances to hit him without much worry.

Sometimes when you’re at a distance,he can also throw his weapon at you, similar to what he does when he’s on his horse.
The best way to deal with this is tododge to the side just before the weapon reaches you.

The Hushed Saint can alsodisappear into the ground and reappear by jumping and slamming his weapon down, causing an area-of-effect attack.
Keep an eye on the branches that show where he’ll emerge and run away from there.

Let us not forget about his shield;he uses it to block your attacksandfollow it up with a stab. Additionally, he might also try tobash you with his shield, but you can easilydodge or choose to block those attacks.
Second Phase
When he’s lost about half of his health,he’ll power up his weapon, giving it longer reachand entering his second phase.
Notably,he keeps using the same attacksas before butadds three more.
The first new attack of this phase is when hebashes his shield on his chest to summon his horse, whichcharges at you. Probably the most effective way to avoid it is torun away.
He’ll alsosmash his shieldto the ground and performa shockwave attack, similar to what he does when he’s mounted.
This one can be handled the same way as when he is mounted bydodging forwards.
Finally, he’ll do a combo withtwo shield attacksfollowed by a powerful strike with his halberd.
One thing to keep in mind is thatthe Hushed Saint can switch regularly between being on foot and on his horse during the fight.
When he disappears into the ground on foot, he usually reappears on his horse. When he wants to return to being on foot, he jumps off his horse and launches his weapon at you.
The Hushed Saint Strategy
Memorizing all the Hushed Saint’s moves can be a lot to handle. But remember ourearlier advice and openings,as they will serve you well to defeat him.
When you first step into the boss arena, you’ll see the Hushed Saint on his horse. Your best move here is tokeep your distance. He might try to charge at you or disappear into the ground, but as far as we know, you can’t damage him while he’s on his horse.
After a while,he’ll jump off his horse and throw his weapon at you. That’s when you need to prepare for the real battle.
Depending on how close or far you are from him, he’ll use different attacks.
You want to stick close to the Hushed Saint, so he will perform his two-swing combo, giving you an opening to land some hits.
If you’re good at parrying, it’s the perfect time to do so since this willchip away at his posture and eventually stagger him for a grievous strike.
Whenever you need to heal or regain your stamina,be cautious if he tosses his weapon at you when you are at a distance. Even if he does, don’t rush in for an attack. Instead, get close and wait for his next move.
Again, when you’re at a distance,he might use his jumping attack. If you dodge it effectively, you’ll have a chance to counter-attack, but watch out for the area it affects.
When he gets back on his horse, your best bet is to keep your distance and avoid getting hit.
Once you’ve taken half of his health, he’ll enter the second phase, but don’t panic;he’ll stick to the same attacks you’ve been dealing with. However, the one new move to watch for ishis shockwave attack.
If you’re close when he does it,you may dodge forward and move in for a few hits.
Don’t forget about your Umbral Lamp, you can use it toSoulflay him and inflict wither that deal some solid damage. Depending on how many charges you have, use it wisely.
When he raises his shield to block your attack, dodge to the sideandhit him after he performs the stab attack, then step back immediately.
This fight demandsgood dodging skills and patience. Rushing in and getting greedy will lead to your downfall.
Stay close, don’t let his size intimidate you, strike when there’s an opening, andavoid attacking or getting hit when he’s on his horse at all costs.
When the going gets tough, you can summon one of these NPCs for help just before the boss fog.
Pieta, Stomund, Captain of the Fidelis, Iron Wayfarer, Damarose the Marked(If you interacted with her previously),Tortured Prisoner(If you freed her from the prison cell).
