An optional boss in Remnant 2 that’s easily missed, the Root Nexus boss fight is a brawl that’s not difficult but still worth trying as the drops are somewhat helpful. Another of the forlorn creatures that call Yaesha their home, the Root Nexus is something everyone will come across at some point.

The boss itself doesn’t do much to attack you, but it is quite the DPS check that won’t block your progress through the game but can still take a while to wear down. To help you turn this overgrown rotted tree into wood pulp, here’s a helpful guide on how to find and defeat the Root Nexus in Remnant 2.
How To Find The Root Nexus
First off,the Root Nexus is incredibly easy to find. Most people going through Yaesha will run into this cancerous tree root. But for those that missed it and are trying to dig it out through a re-roll,it’s located in the Forbidden Grovethough sometimes it can appear in The Far Woods. It’sgenerally at the centre of Yaesha, so you may need to do a bit of exploring.
But the fight arena itself is perfect. It’s large, open andthe boss is right at the centre of the room, and best of all, it’snext to a Red CrystalCheckpoint. So you only have a few feet to travel if you get wiped. To trigger the boss fight, just take aim at the large glowing red root at the base of the tree, and open fire. As soon as you doa huge health bar will appear, the growth will roar, and the chaos will begin.

It’s worth leaving this boss until you’re suitably strong as it’s durable andthe hordes it summons can overwhelm you fast.
How To Beat The Root Nexus
You don’t have to worry about any complex mechanics to use or big fancy attacks as this fight is just going to be astraight-out DPS race with the boss. Its Weak Point is mainly the heart muscle and red areas, the tree itself is more durable. Thankfully, the heart is completely stationary. So you don’t have to track its movement, just dump that damage as quickly as you possibly can.
Why we’re stressing speed here is that as you pour on those bullets, the boss will periodically shriek. When this happens abig wave of enemies will appear. The roster of creeps turning up will be all from Yaesha, andthey’llescalate in size, difficulty and numberthe longer you take to beat this boss. Plus, if you run this area on higher difficulties the types and number of monsters will increase as well.

Attacking the Root Nexus will also cause a Defiler to spawn. This is essentiallya superpowered version of the Root Axemanand acts as an elite enemy type.
It’s a fight that’sbest tackled as a partyas the extra guns means you’re able to split your damage between the boss and the hordes that come screeching at you from every direction. If you plan on taking this one solo, make sure to bring your biggest gunand best trinkets that boost the damage of your hits.

A good tip is touse the Engineer or Summoner Archetypesas the turret or minions can help take down and distract the oncoming hordes. Kill or avoid the minions and just wear this boss down. It’s that simple. Once it’s beat it’ll explode andat its centrewill be your reward.

The Attacks Of The Root Nexus
Sincethe Root Nexus doesn’t moveyou don’t have a lot to worry about. But it’sthe minions that are going to be the problemas the ghouls it’ll pull in for help will basically be every enemy type in the game. So expect lots of birds from the air, rolling ball boys on the ground, big tanky axemen and wooden snakes peppering you from range.
The biggest issue with the horde, other than that they increase in size and complexity the longer you take, they also come from absolutely anywhere. So finding a place to stand and form a firing line can be a little tricky as you’re oftenflanked by the next wavejust as you’re finishing off the first.

A good tip is totry not to get boxed in. Hanging by a connecting path to the area allows you plenty of room to back up orform a bottleneckthat will let your team dump all their AOE attacks in one big helpful spot. The Root Nexus may not need to move, but you certainly do,so stay mobile.
Rewards For Beating The Root Nexus
Not every boss in Remnant 2 is going to give you Weapon Mod or a new gun. Some drop rings, quest items or in the case of the Root Nexus,a handy amulet. After detonating this corrosive red growth it’s recommended that youwalk into the centre of it.
Inside this gooey structure will bethe Hallowed Egg. This odd, almost Oyster-looking object is very useful. Upon wearing it you’ll gain a30 percent increaseto your current firearms magazine as well as a10 percent boostto melee damage in combat forseven seconds, with the melee booststacking up to five times. So you may quickly get a nice big boost to your whacks.
