General Hearty Item Info
In total, seven cooking materials in Tears of the Kingdom have the hearty tag:Hearty Bass,Hearty Salmon,Hearty Truffles,Big Hearty Truffles,Hearty Radishes,Big Hearty Radishes, andHearty Lizards.
While the Big version of ingredients (and the Hearty Salmon) provide more temporary hearts than their counterparts, the more valuable hearty ingredients may be unreachable depending on your game progress.

Cooking in Tears of the Kingdom can be complicated, as cookable items have hidden values and react differently depending on what they’re cooked with. Consult your stored recipes or acooking guideto ensure you’re getting the most out of your hard-earned ingredients.
Where these ingredients can be found depends heavily on the exact type of item you’re looking for, as they spawn according to the item category they fall under rather than whether they’re tagged as hearty.

Pre-Farm Preparation
As you’re looking for these ingredients,it will be vital to use theSensor+ feature of your Purah Padto aid you in zeroing in on your target. Once you’ve found at least one of any given item, this will allow you to hunt the rest much more quickly, resulting in faster farming.
Try using Ultra Hand to light up gatherable items on the ground, making them easier to spot.

You’ll also benefit from having a variety of teleport locations unlocked since the locations of these items span the entirety of Hyrule.
Lastly, consider bringing clothing or dishes that guard against adverse weather conditions; some of the areas you’ll need to visit will be too hot or too cold for Link to survive unaided.

Hearty Bass
Hearty Bass are uncommon and potentially hard to reach, asthey can only be found in the waters of the Sky Isles floating above Hyrule.
To reach them, you will either need tolaunch Link from a nearby sky tower, build a Zonai vehicle capable of sustained flight, or simplyteleport to a nearby location that you have already unlocked.

Hearty Salmon
While more difficult to find than Hearty Bass,Hearty Salmon can be found in rivers of Hyrule. However, these fish sometimes prefer frigid environments, socold-weather gear or food may be required to harvest them.
Shooting either of the hearty fish with arrows before swimming up to them eliminates the risk of spooking them. Alternatively, using electrically-charged items can stun the fish, making them easier to pick up.

Big Hearty Radishes
Big Hearty Radishes follow the same principle as Big Hearty Truffles in thatthey can spawn in the same location as their smaller brethren, but are rarer. These pinkish red veggies are similarly buried in the ground, andare instead marked by two tall pink flowers spurting from the ground.

Whilethey’re used for cooking Elixirsrather than Dishes, Hearty Lizards still provide all the same benefits as other Hearty food.

How To Respawn Hearty Items
Once you’ve decided on suitable areas to farm the Hearty ingredients you need, gather as many as you can before the next Blood Moon.As they respawn all non-unique overworld items, Blood Moons should be your notification that whatever Hearty ingredients you’re after areripe for the picking once again.
Blood Moons work a little differently than they did in Breath of the Wild. While the base timer for a Blood Moon to occur is still roughlyseven in-game days (or 168 real-world minutes), you canincrease the frequency of Blood Moons occurring by killing lots of enemiesorgathering lots of resources.
To farm Hearty items more efficiently, we recommendkilling large groups of enemiesto trigger a Blood Moon once you’ve gathered your initial wave of items. Repeat this process as needed.
