As you explore the world ofPalia, you may come across a tree that glows purple and makes an odd humming noise. These strange trees are known as Flow Trees, and cutting them down gives one of the most coveted items in the game: Flow-Infused Logs.

Flow Trees aren’t as easy to cut as regular trees though. Their magical nature makes them regenerate; you’ll need a team of players to chop them down. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find them, how to cut them down, and tell you some of the best places to farm them.

Updated June 12, 2025, by Sean Murray:You grow with the flow in Palia, and nothing says “flow” like a Flow Tree. These coveted purple trees require a bit of work to find and chop down, which is why we’ve refreshed this guide with improved formatting for greater readability. We’ve also added more links to other helpful Palia topics.

How To Find Flow Trees

Follow Your Eyes And Ears

Flow Trees appear randomlyall across Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay, though they’reslightly more common in Bahari Bay,along with other higher-tier materials and animal variants.

There aretwo waysto tell if a tree is imbued with flow or not. You can identify Flow Tree by thebright purple, swirling coloration at the baseof the tree and theloud, constant humthey emit. They appearrandomly in place of all tree typesin the game except bushes and extra large, unchoppable trees.

Onlower graphical settings, a Flow Tree’s coloration may be slightly more difficult to spot, especially on Juniper Trees in Bahari Bay.

How To Cut Down Flow Trees

Teamwork Makes The Dream Work

Due to Flow Treesregeneratingtheir “health”, it will often takeat least two to three additional playersto cut down one tree, depending on axe type.

Large-size trees– whether Juniper, Oak, Samara, or Heartwood – needat least four players withFine Axesto cut down.

If you run into a Flow Tree while alone, thebest way to get supportfrom other players is topost in chat that there’s a Flow Treeand describe its location. For example, you could say, “large Flow Tree at the lighthouse”, and players will often flock towards it to help.

Each player only needs tosuccessfully hit the Flow Tree one timeto be able to get loot from the tree.

As Flow Trees are a rare and important material all players will need, it’s helpful and courteous towait for as many players as possible to join in, especially if they’ve already mentioned they’re on their way.

How To Farm For Flow Trees

Searching The Right Places, And Communication Is Key

Between tool upgrades and high-tier furniture sets, you’re going toneed a lot of Flow Trees to makeFlow-Infused Planks.

While Flow Trees do have a random chance to appear when a tree spawns, you canfarm out areas with trees to make them respawnand greatly increase your chances of finding one. Any area can be farmed, but several locations are especially optimal for Flow Tree farming:Flooded Steps, Hideaway Bluff, the Lighthousein the center of Bahari Bay, andThorny Thicket.

You cannotify players in your server via chatif you’re farming in a specific area and get others to join you, making the farm a lot quicker and giving more chances for Flow Trees to spawn.

All four of these locations aredensely packed with trees, and three of them – Flooded Steps, Hideaway Bluff, and the Lighthouse – are positionedextremely close to fast travel points.

They also have avariety of other materials nearby, allowing you to farm for other materials or search for bugs while waiting for trees to respawn.Hideaway Bluffis especially useful in this regard as you’re able to farm Flow Trees andPalium Orein the small cave to the east of Hassian’s home at the same time.
