While you may start on a single hunk of space rock inStarfield, you certainly don’t stay there. Hundreds upon hundreds of planets are yours to explore, and joining Constellation is just the first step in your journey.

After finishing up your first mission with Sarah to go track down an Artifact piece, you have a few important quests you can decide to start. At some point, you may get the itch to return to the moon where it all started, Vectera. This guide will take you through the quest, which ultimately lets you add some key folks to your crew.

Return To Vectera

While chatting with Sarah at the Lodge, she will recommendreturning to Vectera to check on Barrett. When you want to go meet up with the former captain of the Frontier, you will want toset a course forthe Narion System.Vecterais the moon orbiting the gas giant,Anselon.

Upon touching down atthe Argos Extractors Mining Outpost, you’ll see things aren’t quite right.Your old boss Lin is still around, and she’ll fill you in on what has happened.

Crimson Fleet pirates came to crash the party, andHeller and Barrett ended up being captured. Lin tried to do what she could to get a communication signal to the pirates’ ship, butthe comms computer got fried during the fight.

Fix The Comms Computer

Lin leaves the computer handiwork to you, and you’ll need to gofix the comms computer to figure out where the Crimson Fleet might have gone. Follow your marker toward one of the buildings nearby and make your way inside, usingthe switch on a panel outside to open the doors.

Once you get to the computer room, you’ll need tointeract with the comms computer to learn that power isn’t correctly being supplied. You will need tofind batteries nearbythat can be input into a nearby electrical array.

Where To Find Power Cells

You will needthree power cells to reboot the comms computer. Luckily, there are some close by:

Go back andplug the power cells into the power supply for the computers, and you’ll fix it right up. Interact with the comms computer tocheck for any emergency transmissions. Lucky for you, Barrett sent an audio message down to Vectera.

Go tell Lin what you found, and she’ll be able to getlocation data that was embedded in the audio transmission. All signs point to Barrett and Heller beingtaken to a planet in the Valo System calledHillex.

However, before you run off Vectera,Lin will inform you that she is looking for a new line of workafter everything that went down at the mining outpost. You are nowable torecruit Lin to your crew. Lin specializes inDemolitionsandOutpost Management.

Travel To Hillex

Your next move will be tochart a course to the neighboring Valo System. You’ll want toset the planet Hillex as your destination. Touch down on the planet, andfollow your tracker to the last known location for Barrett and Heller.

Make sure toscan the surface of all new planets and moonsto reveal what resources they have. While Hillex is a barren planet with no flora or fauna, you can at least look forhelium (He-3)andaluminum (Al)while you are on the surface.

After a bit of walking,you’ll come across a wrecked shipthat could only belong to those you’re trying to rescue. Search around the wreckage, andyou’ll find Heller in a less-than-great condition on the ground, alone. Heller fills you in on what happened to Barrett, and how the ship ended up crashing.

The Crimson Fleet eventually came to investigate, and Barrett was taken with them, but not beforeanother emergency transmission got sent to Heller. He gives it to you, soopen your inventoryandfind the item Emergency Transmission 02. Listen to this touncover the coordinates for Barrett’s next location.

Matsura the Grim listens as you try to persuade him to let Barrett go.

Once this is done,Heller will ask if he can come along with you, and you’ll beable to recruit him to your crew. If you don’t want to leave an injured man stranded on a barren planet, bring Heller with you, if only to reunite him with Lin. Heller specializes inGeologyandOutpost Engineering.

Travel To Bessel III

Next stop,Bessel III in the Bessel System.Grav jump here, then touch down atthe Ransacked Research Outpost, and you’ll be right near the enemy’s current base of operations.

If you decide to reach the Ransacked Research Outpost fromthe main path, be aware that there are someland mines placed here that can explodeunder you.

You’ll need toinfiltrate the research outpost, but to do so meansfighting off many of the pirates around the area:

Lvl. 16

Pirate Rover

Take care when you attack this base.Several pirates are patrolling the area, and there aretwo turrets on rooftopsjust waiting to rain down on you. APirate Rover is also at the high tower vantage point, and doesn’t just shoot at you, but occasionallyalso chucks grenades in your direction.

There is acontrol computeron one of the structural rooftops near the main entrance. It hasa novice lock, and you canunlock it to turn off control of the turrets, if you don’t want to shoot them down.

Aftertaking care of the grunts on the ground, gotake out the Pirate Roverthat has probably been shooting at you from the top of a tower. Defeating this enemy will drop a legendary rifle, theTesla Suppressed Calibrated Maelstrom. You will also findseveral crates you can loot, with one that contains4680 credits.

How To Rescue Barrett

When youenter the ransacked outpost, you’ll soon see Barrett sitting in a large room, surrounded by Crimson Fleet members.Make your way down there, and while you could certainly run in with guns blazing, sometimesa little diplomacy never hurts.

Go over totalk to Barrett and the Crimson Fleet group’s leader, Matsura the Grim. He won’t want to let Barrett go all willy-nilly, but you’ll be presented witha few choices on how to proceed:

you may certainly gothe route of violenceat this point if you wish, but you’ll need tocontend with a few more pirates and Matsura the Grim himself. If you choose to attemptto persuade Matsura, it’s actually easy to do so.

Justchoose the following two options, and he’ll let Barrett be on his way:

With your daring rescue now complete, you canreturn with Barrett to the Lodge on Jemison. This completes theBack to Vectera questline, whichrewards you with experience and 7200 credits.

You are also one step closer to beingable to romance Barrett, as you’ll now be able torecruit him to your crew. Barrett has specialties inStarship Engineering, Particle Beam Weapon Systems, Robotics, and Gastronomy.
