No armor set inBaldur’s Gate 3could hope to compare to the legendary Helldusk set, but getting your hands on this gear requires you to set foot in places most would not dare venture to. From the depths of Avernus to the most secure fortress on the Sword Coast, you’ll need to bring your very best.

There are four pieces to this set. Three are within the House of Hope itself, the process of entering a difficult one and the process of finding each piece even harder. The final piece lies within arm’s reach of Enver Gortash. How far are you willing to go for this one-of-a-kind armor?
Updated July 14, 2025: We’ve given this article a once-over and added some information regarding the Flawed version of the Helldusk set that you can acquire from Dammon the tiefling blacksmith.
Helldusk Helmet
Very rare helmet.Grantsimmunity to Critical Hits.
Infernal Sight:See in magical and ordinary darkness up to 12m. Immune to Blinded condition.
Magical Durability:+2 bonus to Saving Throws against spells.
Immolating Gaze:Allows the caster to cast Immolating Gaze as a Class Action. Deals an additional 2d8 Fire damage on creatures that are Burning. On a failed Intelligence save, the creature takes an additional 2d6 Fire damage while burning and becomes Frightened for 3 turns.
TheHelldusk Helmetis found ina secret vaultwithin the House of Hope,directly across from the magical barrier protecting the Boudoir. It is a purple, diamond-looking contraption on the wall.
To enter the secret vault, walk up the stairs tointeract with the Inert Infernal Gem.When it turns purple,send someone with a high Intelligence or Arcana Proficiency to use it(Arcana Check, DC20).
On a failure, the gem will blow you backward. On a success, thewall will opento reveal a secret Treasure Vault.
The Helldusk Helmet (in the treasure pile), Mol’s Contract, and theStaff of Spellpowercan all be located in this room. Take whatever you like and leave.
Helldusk Gloves
Very rare gloves.Gives+1 to Strength Saving Throws.
Infernal Acuity:Gain +1 to Spell Attack Rolls and Spell Save DC.
Infernal Touch:Deal an additional 1d6 Fire damage when making a weapon attack or 1d6 Necrotic damage when making an unarmed attack. Possibly inflicts Bleeding on target.
Rays of Fire:Allows the wearer to cast Rays of Fire, dealing 1d6 Fire damage for each of 3 rays of fire (up to 3d6 damage total).
TheHelldusk Glovescan only be obtainedafter entering the Boudoir. Continue through the House of Hope,completing the Archives section and obtaining the Boudoir invitationby deceiving or pickpocketing the Archivist.
After stopping the magical barrier leading into the room, you can enter the Boudoir andfind an incubus named Harleep.
Refuse all of Harleep’s advances and fight them. This isn’t a difficult fight, but it is an annoying one. After striking Harleep once, Harleep will becomeimmune to any damage dealt until their next turn.They also can charm your allies and turn them against you.
Therefore, you mustdefeat Harleep with your highest-damage characterwhile the rest of your party fights Harleep’s imps. After Harleep is defeated, you canloot the Helldusk Gloves off of their corpse.
Legendary Heavy Armor.21 AC, no dexterity bonus.
Helldusk Armor:Any wearer is Proficient with this armor.
Infernal Retribution:On a successful Saving Throw against a spell, the caster receives the Burning condition for 3 turns.
Prime Aegis of Fire:Gain Resistance to Fire damage and Immunity to the Burning condition. Additionally, negate 3 damage from all damage types.
Fly:The wearer of this armor can castFlyas a Bonus Action for 10 turns.
TheHelldusk Armouris the hardest piece of the armor to obtain, but it is the easiest to locate.Located on Raphael himselfafter completing the House of Hope, you’ll need todefeat one of Act Three’s hardest battle challengesto obtain this armor.

Helldusk Boots
Very rare boots.
Steadfast:Cannot be forcibly moved by spells or actions. Ignore the effects of Difficult Terrain.
Infernal Evasion:When you fail a Saving Throw, use your reaction to succeed instead.
Hellcrawler:Teleport to an area within sight. Deal 2d6 Fire damage where you land in a 3m radius.
While all other pieces of the armor can be found in the House of Hope, this particular pair of boots canonly be found in Wyrm’s Rock Fortress in Gortash’s quarters.
to reach it, you’ll need to sneakilybreak into the uppermost part of the fortress(or walk in, if you’re friends with Gortash)or climb up the sideof the fortress to the topmost floor.
If you must sneak into the fortress and are not allied with Gortash, we do recommendsending only a maximum of two people in.We managed this grab with ease by pairinga wizard with Invisibility and a rogue (for lockpicking).
Otherwise, you can gain the boots without sneaking by fighting and defeating Gortash. With him gone, you can steal anything in the keep without issue.
If you’re not friends with Gortashor have angered the Steel Watch, werecommend going around the fortressand scaling the outer wall. For this, you’ll need tojump from the bridge closest to Wyrm’s Crossing toward the west.
Follow the jagged cliffsaround the fortressuntil you spya ladder. Climb itand thenclimb the vinesshortly after to reach the outer balcony.
Enter the fortress and thentake the wooden door to the leftwith caution. Again,sneak to the left to open a door to a passageway.
If you’re friends with Gortashor have disabled the Steel Watch, you canenter the fortress through the main gates and into the Audience Chamber.
Both those approaching from the outside and those from inside must take the door to thepassageway on the north side.
You can take the south side passageway alternatively, but all pictures moving forward will be from the opposite perspective.
As you enter the upper area of the fortress, you’ll need tobeware of two things:
Avoid them both, and make your way to thelarge doors into the central chamber.
Sneak in and prioritize heading for theGilded Chest in the far back right corner of the room.It is positionedbeside Gortash’s bed.The Helldusk Boots will be inside, but you mustlockpick it open(DC25).
With the boots in hand, you’ll be able toflee the fortressas quickly as you wish. Theoretically, this is your final piece. Congratulations on completing the legendary Helldusk set!
How To Get The Flawed Helldusk Armor Pieces From Dammon
While the regular Helldusk Armor set can be acquired in Act 3, there is another version of the set that you may get in Act 2 fromDammon, the tiefling blacksmith. If he survived Act 1, you’ll find Dammon at theInn of Last Light, where he can sell you items and alsohelp out Karlach with her infernal engine problems.
Dammon can offer tomake you some armor piecesif you have any Infernal Iron going spare, either after helping Karlach or ignoring Karlach’s questline entirely.
You may have toimprove your relationship with Dammonbefore he offers to make the armor for you.
The armor Dammon makes for you is Flawed Helldusk armor, and each piece will cost a piece of Infernal Iron. As the name implies,this armor isn’t as good as the regular Helldusk armor pieces, but they’re a good stopgap for heavy armor users until Act 3.
