As you adventure around inStarfield, you’ll likely find yourself on one of the main planets in the game, Akila. Within the bustling Akila City located on the planet, you’ll find a variety of quests, including one that lets you join the Freestar Rangers.
There are different quests that you will discover by overhearing certain conversations as you walk around town. Near the Akila City Barracks, you might stumble upon a few of the guards talking about a problem relating to the Ashta, a predator population native to Akila. Hear what they have to say, and you’ll be able to start the “Defensive Measures” quest line.
How To Help Keoni Alpin
When you firsttalk to Davis Wilson outside the Akila City Barracks, he’ll complain about the new kid on the block and her fancy gadgets. He doesn’t think her plan will actually help deal with the Ashta problem. You will want tofind the woman he’s talking about, Keoni Alpin, and get her side of the story.
Offer to help Keoni Alpintest her new tech, and she’ll send you off toplace some sensors on the edge of Akila City. To do this,make your way to the Stretch,which is a low-level residential area on the north side of the city.
You will need toplace four sensors into the soilat the marked locations. Two of these will benear Aggie’s bar, with the other two locations close by. Once all the sensors are place,return to Keoni.
How To Distract The Guard For Keoni
After thanking you for your help, Keoni will now say thatshe needs a power source to process the datacollected by the sensors. There is a computer terminal that will do the trick, but it’snear a guard tower, so you will need todistract the guard so Keoni can access the network.
There arethree ways you’re able to get the guard to leavethe tower.
One option you have is tocause a little troubleto distract the guard. If yousteal something from the lockers in front of the guard, he’ll have no choice but tomake an arrest.This will give Keoni ample time to work her computer magic.
However, if you don’t want to sully your reputation, there aretwo other ways to get the guard to leave.You canpersuade the guard to step awayfor a minute. Or,if you’vejoined the Freestar Rangers, you canchoose another dialogue optionthat will get the guard to leave.
If you ever want aboost to your persuasion chances, you can use items such asHippolytaor aChandra wine.
Gotalk to Keoni again, and you’ll get areward of experience and creditsfor helping her. This updates the “Defensive Measures” quest to become “False Positives,” continuing this side story in Akila.
How To Complete False Positives
Afterwaiting a full day, you’ll be able totalk to Keoni about the data she’s collected. Something seems off, as ifthe data has been tampered with. You’ll need tofind Davis Wilsonagainto get to the bottom of the issue.
Talk with Davis Wilson, and he’ll eventuallyinvite you to follow him out on an Ashta patrolto see for yourself if anything is wrong. On patrol, he will notice that something does seem wrong with the Ashta tracks, which end up leading toa mangled security robot outside the city.
As you listen to Davis, you will beambushed by three Ashta. Help Davisfight off the predatorsbefore they make their way to the city.
An Ashta can dish outheavy chunks of damage, so try to stay away from their bite. They can easily be taken down byusing shotguns.
Due to the destroyed security robot, Davis will question whethersomeone from Akila Security was involvedin the issues with Keoni’s data. You will need tomake your way to the Akila City Barracksto investigate.
The Akila City Barracks isnear the main entry area of the city. This is where you originally might havestarted this quest line.
Once inside the barracks,go to the computer on the wallto access theAkila City Security Database. If you search through the files, you willfind a folder relating to robotics.
Open up the robotics folder, and you’ll see that a user named"Kirklin, B.“was the last one who accessed it, and thatdata corruption was detected.
Luckily for you,Bailey Kirklin, is close by.Head outside the barracks to confront her and get the truth.While you can go as easy or hard on her as you’d like, she’ll reveal that she just wanted to mess up Keoni’s plan.
Head back to Davis,who will likely still be by Akila City’s East Gate, so you can fill him in on everything you learned.
Finishing the “False Positives” quest will alsoreward you with credits and experience. You can close out this side story by continuing with “Leader of the Pack,” which will become available for you.
