The Sims has come a long way since its days of simplistic models with basic functions, and the result is a fantastic and diverse experience.

Take the Seasons expansion, which beyond giving us season-specific events and interactions, gave us heaps of new content to enhance the lives of our Sims. It brought back a niche, yet beloved addition to the game; flower arranging. And, like everything else in the world of The Sims, there is more to this craft than meets the eye.
What Is Flower Arranging?
Flower Arranging made its first debut as a talent badge in The Sims 2, as a part of the Open for Business expansion pack. In The Sims 4, it returned asa skill Sims can learn in the Seasons expansion.
It can also bea source of incomein the same way that skills like painting and writing can be. Sims will be able tocraft different quality craftablesas they build this skill.
Flower Arranging is also apart of the Gardener career’s Floral Designer branch. No other careers require Sims to develop this skill.
How To Learn The Flower Arranging Skill
There are two things you can do to make your Sim learn this skill,and they will both requireintent, as there areno actions that will make themacquire this skill randomly.
The first ispurchasing a flower-arranging table, theninteracting with itto make them arrange flowers. The other option for learning the flower arranging skill istopurchase a skill book using a bookcase.
Where To Get The Flower Arranging Table
There isjust one flower arranging table availablein the game, though it comes in avariety of colors, so youcan customize itto fit your Sim’s other furniture.
To find the table you need to head toBuild Mode, click onOutdoors, locate theOutdoor Activitiessection, and scroll until you find the table, which is calledViolets Are Blue Flower Arranging Table. It is the only item in the entire build menu to signal +Flower Arranging Skill.
You can alsotype in flower arrangingin the Build Mode menu search bar to find the table quickly.

Flower Arranging Skill Levels And Benefits
As you build this skill, you willunlock more options for crafting arrangements with rarer flowers, which makes the end productsignificantly more expensive, helping your Sims earn more.
Being highly skilled will also give your Simthe ability to create scented arrangements, which can havedifferent effectson other Sims.

What Scenting Flowers Does
If you know The Sims, then you probably know that some of the game mechanics are quirky, to say the least. Scenting flowers is one of those cases where there is a lot to learn.
It isnot merely about making flowers smell special. Each of the scentshas an effectthat will impactthe environment, your Sims, other Sims, or the flowers themselves.
Crocus
Bee-Friending
Can appease bees in a beehive. It has a limited AoE of roughly 6 build-mode squares, counting from where the flowers are placed.
Snowdrop
Seasons
Will give a +2 inspired moodlet lasting 2 hours after the Sim chooses to ‘Watch Wisps.’
Buebell
Timelessness
Stops the wilting process, allowing flowers to stay pristine and forever fresh. Doesn’t need any special interaction to take effect.
Daisy
Joy
Gives a +2 happy moodlet lasting 2 hours when the Sim chooses ‘Joy and Sunshine.’ It has the same effect on other Sims when given as a gift.
Rose
Romance
Gives a +2 flirty moodlet lasting 2 hours from the action ‘Fill with Passion.’ It has the same effect on other Sims when given as a gift.
Dahlia
Mourning
Gives a +3 sad moodlet lasting 2 hours from the action ‘Weep from Beauty.’ It has the same effect on other Sims when given as a gift.
Chrysanthemum
Friendship
Gives a +2 happy moodlet lasting 2 hours when the Sim chooses ‘Full of Friendship.’ It has the same effect on other Sims when given as a gift.
Snapdragon
Disrespect
Gives a +2 angry moodlet lasting 2 hours from interacting with one of the angry options: ‘How Dare They’, ‘Rude News’ or ‘Shut Up.’ It has the same effect on other Sims when given as a gift.
Tulip
Faithful
Only works when given as a gift. The receiving Sim will be locked out of romantic interactions with any other Sims except the gift giver. It does not get removed even after selling the flowers. Beware that if you make two Sims gift the flowers to one another, romantic interactions between them might get locked so that they cannot be performed at all.
Sims will immediately go to sleep after choosing ‘Feeling Drowsy.’
Bird of Paradise
Magnificence
Gives a +2 confident moodlet lasting 2 hours when the Sim chooses ‘Be Magnificent.’ It has the same effect on other Sims when given as a gift.
Begonia
Cursed
Gives a +3 dazed moodlet lasting 24 hours. Only takes effect when given as a gift.
Lily
Creativity
Gives a +2 inspired moodlet lasting 2 hours when the Sim chooses ‘Creative Skill Inspiration.’ It has the same effect on other Sims when given as a gift.
Death Flower
Death
Only works when given as a gift. The receiving Sim will instantly age to the next stage of their life. If given to an elder, they will die.
Life
Makes Sims younger when they choose ‘Inhale Life Essence.’
Most scents willadd a new action to the pie menuwhen you interact with the scented arrangement.Giving them as giftswill affectanother Sim. TheCrocusscent is theonly one serving as mood decorwith a set AoE for its effect.

Growing Your Own Flowers
Flower arranging goesextremely well with the Gardening skill, especially when youwant to make it a source of incomefor your Sim. That is becauseeach flower arrangement your Sim craftswill have aset cost for materials used, which can bereduced or eliminatedaltogether when the Sim hasany of the materials they need in their inventory.
Fresh Flowers
When crafting flower arrangements, there is a checkmark for anoption to use fresh ingredients,whichcan be uncheckedbutdefaults as checked. Thishas no effect on the cost of arrangements, but it expands the bar to showcase the items available in your inventory that you may use when making an arrangement.
Using fresh flowersmultiplies the payout for each arrangement sold. Fresh flowers aremore durableas well, helping to preserve the flower arrangement forroughly an extra daybefore it wilts away.
