Where Do You Find Orkish Chests?

Orkish Chests start appearing once you hit the second area in the game: The Elvan Quarter. Here you will find camps that are largely filled with Goblin Men and Wolves. Every last camp will contain an Orkish Chest. These chests hold quite a few goodies. These range from Ore to Gold Coins. In fact, this will be your primary way of obtaining gold coins during the first half of the game.

If you aren’t familiar, Gold Coins are used to build Treasure Troves where lend your dwarf a powerful stat boost when defending their base.

Naturally, as you progress deeper into the mines, you will encounter tougher Camps filled with stronger baddies. However, the chests will also be filled with ever more valuables to reward your efforts. Not every area in the game has these camps. But when you enter into an area that does, you should make sure to clean them out.

It is worth noting that once you clear out a camp the enemies will never respawn.

How To Open The Orkish Chest

Naturally, this is the question everyone is here to have answered. There are two ways to open these chests…

Busting them openispossible, but if you are using the Crude Pickax, you will find that it takes well over 100 swings. That is a nightmare! However, you will be able to acquire better pickaxes which will make this processlesstedious.

Naturally, you will need to wipe out all the enemies occupying the camp. However, you don’t have to do it alone. You can lead a dangerous, wild animal—like a bear—straight to the camp.Just let them tear your rivals to pieces and clean up what is left.

The better way of opening them is to find the Key. These will always be rewarded to you once you break the central tower in the monster’s base.

Why Would You Ever Force The Chest Instead Of Using The Key?

Unfortunately, sometimes Return To Moria can be a touch messy. We’ve had more than one key fall through the world once breaking the tower. Once that happens, there is no way to reclaim it. So, busting it open is the next best option. Just don’t bother doing it until you have a Steel Pickax.

So, if you ever find that you can’t find the key, it isn’t because it is hidden away elsewhere. The game just ate it.Break out that pickaxe!
