Vault Of The Formless Dungeon Walkthrough

The Vault of the Formless is one of therandomly generated areasin the N’Erud World region. As such, the layout of the area and the enemies you may facediffer depending on your campaign roll. That said, listed below are the enemies you’ll most likely find here, as well as some tips for dealing with them.

Details

N’Erud Zombie

These are the basic enemy type that you see all over N’Erud. They move around slowly, but can gain sudden bursts of speed when they detect you. Theirweak point is their head; shooting their head will cause them to stumble for a second.

Possessed

Possessed arefloating N’Erud Zombiesthat canlaunch projectilesat you. They often float out of range of melee attacks, so you’ll have totake them down from afar.

Corpse Ball

The Corpse Ball is a large mass of flesh that rolls around and uses dangerous attacks.Breaking off the metal platingaround its body, thenhitting the bombs underneath, will blow off chunks of its flesh, exposing its weak point.

Robot Grunt

Robot Grunts can firefast-moving blue projectilesand occasionally spawn with anenergy shieldthat can be destroyed to stun them for a moment.

Specter

Specters are rare enemies that canfire projectilesandinhabit the bodies of other nearby enemies. When you defeat an enemy possessed by a Specter, the Specter will fly out, giving you an opportunity to deal damage to it.

One of the main things that remains consistent through Vault of Formless tilesets are the number ofhallways and corridors. These can prove dangerous when facing a Corpse Ball, for example, but also give you opportunities topeak around cornersandtake out enemies before they reach you. Use your surroundings to your advantage as you explore this area.

vault of the formless boss encounter

Eventually, you’ll reach acheckpoint just before a grey fog wall. Heading through this door will begin theZombie Hordeboss encounter.

Zombie Horde Encounter

This is the main boss fight of the Vault of the Formless, but it differs from other bosses you may have fought so far. Instead of a primary boss you must kill, you’ll instead faceseveral waves of N’Erud Zombies, Possessed, and other enemies found in the previous area.

When you first enter the area, you’ll face several N’Erud Zombies and Possessed. Killing these enemies will open a door to the right; pass through this door and hallway to progress into the next area, where you must repeat this process. The layout of this encounter is straightforward; you won’t get lost.

Possessed sometimes float off the ledge, out of melee range. Use guns to quickly take these enemies down before they shoot you.

Eventually, you’ll make it to alarger area with a big door. Stepping near this door will cause it to start to open, whilemore waves of N’Erud Zombiesambush you. Deal with these enemies until the door is open, and you’ll have completed this encounter.

Here, you may either headleft and up a ladder to a Checkpointand your way out of this area, orright to a locked door. Behind this locked door is a powerful weapon, but you’ll first need a key found earlier in the dungeon.

How To Open The Locked Door

To open the locked door at the end of the Vault of the Formless Zombie Horde encounter, you’ll need theHouse Lythla Glyph. To get this Glyph, use the Checkpoint at the end of the dungeon toteleport back to the Checkpoint at its start.

From here, proceed through the first door that unlocked while you were fighting the Zombies, then head further in until you make it to thesecond door. Here, goinside the tunnel but wait for it to rotate aroundso that one side faces an edge and the other leads to a different part of the area.

The tunnel will rotate after a few seconds.

Go through this way, and on your left you’ll find a small room with theHouse Lythla Glyph. Pick up this item andrun back through the dungeon to the end, where you canuse the Glyph on the locked door.

Opening this door will reward you with theRupture Cannon. This short-range handgun has high damage but a slow reload speed, making it great for bursting down high-health enemies at close range.
