How To Join The Gardener Career
Gardening is an activity the Sims can learn and become skilled at, much like logic, handiness, or fitness. However, you can also make acareer out of itfor your Sim.
It’s as easy as finding the business option ontheir cellphone, using the career panel, or using a computerto find a job.The Gardener job will be on the career list, and you’ll be starting off as a dirt digger, making §20 an hour.

Joining a career through the career panelonly works when the Sim is unemployed. If you’re going for a career change, you need to useone of the other methods.
What You Need To Get Started
Preparation for a career often involvesbuying a few itemsor making sure your lot is otherwise equipped to support all the activities your Sim will need to do so they can climb the career ladder.
This is where the Gardener career stands out as being simpler than most, asyou will only need some empty space in your lot where you’re able to plant seeds, and at least oneGarden Planter Box or Garden Pot, which will be a big help to makebuying seeds a quicker process.

You can find these items inBuild Mode, under theOutdoor Activities section. You can also findseedsthere if you don’t want to use gardening items.
What Is Different About The Gardener Career?
The Gardener Career is one of the few careers whereSims can choose between going to work and working from home. Every time your Sim isone houraway from their shift you will get apop-up above the Sim cellphone with a few clickable iconsinstead of the usual notification that shows up in the top right corner.
Thethree optionsyou can choose from areGo to Work, Work From Home, and Take PTO(which stands for paid time off in this world too).

If you don’tchoose one optionafter a short wait time the game willautomatically assume your Sim will go to work.

Daily Tasks And Work From Home Assignments
Because the Gardener career can be performed both away and at home, the tasks you need to complete to keep your Sim’s performance bar up vary slightly. The task you get assigned willdepend on the choice you pick between going to work or staying homeon any given workday.
Thankfully, the tasks are fairly simple, and you will be completing them either way if you’reactively working on leveling up your Sim’s gardening skill. No extra effort needed.

Daily Tasks
There is essentiallyonly one daily task you will need to completeduring the main stretch of the Gardener careerbefore choosing a branch.Harvest Harvestablesis a task that willonly need to be performed once to achieve completion, so it only takes a few minutes at most. All you need to do is collect the produce from any plant and you’re done.
Harvest Harvestables will continue being theonly daily task throughout the duration of the Botanist branchas well. It is only when you choose theFloral Designer branchthat you will see a change, as your Sim will now betasked with Arranging Flowers instead.

Work From Home Assignments
The work-from-home dynamic introduces theoption to do work-from-home assignments, which are a replacement for daily tasks that come with careers. These assignments aremore diverse than daily tasksas well, as they vary from day to day.
Sims who choose to work from home in the Gardener career will need tocomplete one task a day. There are no more requirements that count towards a workday when choosing the work-from-home option.
However, the task has to be completed during the Sims' regular work hours regardless. Sims might get assigned one of the following:
The option tosell the plants directly, either individually or in bulk, will also help tocomplete harvest harvestables tasks but not harvest plants or flowers tasks.
The Role Of Seasons In Gardening
Seasons mean there will be weather changes all around. However, Gardeners know seasons also meanyou won’t always be able to get every plant to bloom.
The Seasons expansion introduced the mechanic in whichproduce goes in and out of season, exactly like in real life. Think Stardew Valley farming, exceptyour plants don’t really die.
They just shrink back into a little mound of dirt until it’s time for them to bloom again.
Make sure to have adiverse garden with plants that are in season at different times of the year. Otherwise, building skills might get tricky. And yes, there are winter plants you may grow!
Gardener Career Rewards And Bonuses
A work well done means promotions, andpromotions mean rewards; both in the form of bonuses and special furniture items. The Gardener career has some unique benefitsSims can enjoy.
Each level in the career will reward a Sim with different things, ranging fromgardening tools to one of the most exotic plants in the game.
