WithWargroove 2offering some new campaigns and custom maps, the creators also decided to add Conquest Mode. This rogue-like mode allows you to play through multiple battles and face random situations, letting you have a unique experience each time you play it.

Because of that, it can be challenging to prepare for the game and react accordingly, so even the easiest difficulties can be tough to tackle. If you’re looking to get the most out of Conquest Mode and enjoy it, you should go through some beginner tips to help you determine the best ways to act in various situations.

Focus On A Defensive Playstyle

Sinceyou’ll face perma-deathin this game mode, you shouldfocus on playing defensively rather than rushing inwith your army. Otherwise, your numbers will thin out to the point where it becomes impossible for you to win a battle.

Playing a defensive playstyle starts with the commander you choose. If you want easier commanders that can help you survive challenging battles, you should pick Mercia or Emeric.

Three randomized formations available in Conquest Mode in Wargroove 2.

Mercia’s Healing Aura allows her to heal her army in a range by 50 percent, which is perfect for a small army in Conquest mode. Emeric’s Elder Shield canprovide you bonus defense to help you during challenging battleswhile placing the crystals as barriers.

Remember that these points go beyond characters, sinceeach one has a passive ability assigned to them. For instance, Pistil gives Mages an extra space of movement, allowing them to reposition themselves to heal teammates. Rhomb can also half Mage healing.

As you become more comfortable with the mode and get a feel for how to play, you may try characters with more aggressive Grooves. Otherwise, attempt to play it safe and stick to high-defense terrain, so enemies can’t drain your health quickly.

Even small damage will add up with time, as each encounter will have full health enemies while your characters will retain their health, so defensive play is even more important.

Mages And Archers Are Invaluable In Conquest Mode

You’ll quickly pick up thatMages and Archers are powerful units in this modethat’ll help you survive. Thanks to their supportive skills and ability to fight people from a distance, you can use them with any playstyle and have them take down various opponents.

For instance,Mages have a healing ability you’re able to use for only 150 gold, which can heal up to five units by 20 percent. Such an ability makes a huge difference in a game mode like this where your health doesn’t reset after each fight.

On top of that,Mages are one of the best units to use against flying enemies, so you’ll want them by your side during certain campaigns. If you lose a Mage, it can turn the tides and cause you to lose the battle.

As for Archers, you won’t have many units that can attack from a distance, unless you use a catapult. However, catapults can’t move and attack in the same turn, making it critical for you to have an Archer that can deal plenty of damage.

On top of that, you can place your Archers behind units, like your Commander, meaning you can have them stand in place and deal bonus damage. Having them by your side willallow them to stay at full health if you protect them, so they’ll keep dealing maximum damage to slay foes.

At the start of Conquest Mode, when you pick your starting units, choose one of the combinations that offers a Mage, Archer, or both. If you can only pick one, prioritize Mages for their healing abilities.

Mystery Squares Are High-Risk, High-Reward Options

As you travel through the map, you may pick mystery squares, which have a random effect. They can cause positive or negative events, such as healing your army, getting units for free, or even purchasing a new upgrade from a character.

On the other hand, you could end up with nothing or even lose money. If you don’t pay a toll, you’ll need to fight off enemies, leading to you losing health and weakening your army. Because of these points, some people may feel afraid to tackle the mystery squares.

However, they can be an excellent choice in two situations:when you’re ahead and as a last attempt.

If you’re ahead with full health, plenty of gold, and a good-sized army, you can risk facing a bad mystery square. Even if you have to pay gold, you can afford it and continue on your pathwithout fighting an extra battle.

On the other hand, if you think you’ll lose anyway, such as only having a few units and a low-health commander, the risk may not matter. After all, ifyou feel like you’ll lose by going with the next battle, you may as well go for the riskand potentially get an advantage that can turn the run around.

If you find yourself in the middle, where you’re not doing amazing or bad, don’t take the risk, butreact to the current paths.

Prioritize Bolstering Your Army And Healing

You want to put yourself in the best position possible when you tackle the last battle, making it crucial tobuild your army and keep it healthy.

If you have money, you should build up your army, since aBarracks will let you make up to four units when you visit it. Depending on your situation, you should try and replace any Mages and Archers you might be missing while maintaining your frontline.

As for healing, you have two options when you reach a healing point:healing your units by 20 percent or your Commander by 100 percent. This depends on your team’s current condition, so weigh out the options and see which will lead to the most healing.

Remember to prioritize your Commander regarding health. Not only will they deal more damage overall, but you’ll lose if they’re defeated. On top of that, a heal from a Mage can restore 20 percent for up to five units during battle, sodon’t go for the unit healing unless you have six or more ones under 20 percentor a full health Commander.

With that in mind, you can also seek upgrades and equipment for your units, but that’s not as important. If a unit dies with the equipment, you lose it forever, making heals and units a better way to invest your money.

Focus On The Middle Upgrades At First

As you play through the mode, you’ll gain Shards, with key battles giving you more of them. On top of that, higher difficulty settings give you more Shards, which you can use in the Unlocks menu to give you additional upgrades whenever you play the mode.

If you want to make the most of your upgrade investments, you should go directly down the middle with your upgrades. Doing so will mostly unlock you additional campaigns to keep the mode interesting while also getting you more units to play as in those campaigns, such as Dark Mercia or Pistil in Cherrystone.

On top of that, you’ll unlock more upgrades that can help you, such asmore starting gold and beginning the game with your Groove. As you make your way down the upgrade tree, you’ll get more branches that you can follow as you see fit.

When you get the first upgrade, you can unlock more potions for the shop, but if you go further down, you can potentially get discounts when you recruit units. That makes the middle path best since you can simplygo for the side upgrades if you find them useful.
