There are a lot of status effectsinBaldur’s Gate 3that can easily control a mass amount of enemies or be the death of you and your party members. Every enemy has gimmicks and spells under their belt the same as you do, so being able to recover from these spells is important to know.
Cloudkill is a spell that creates a cloud of poison on the battlefield. Spells that create an area of effect can be vanquished by other spells or made more powerful by them. This guide will detail what you need to know about getting rid of a cloud of poison so that you may finish off an enemy or escape a trap.

Cloudkill Overview
You will probably face the wrath of this spellwhen attempting to defeat Balthazarin Act Two. Cloudkill is alevel-five conjuration spellthat can be acquired by thesorcerer,wizard, or druidclass.
The poisonous cloud does5-40 Poison damage every turnand can be repositioned at will. Being insidethe cloud will essentially blind youas well, meaning you won’t be able to accurately aim at or attack an enemy for any real damage.

It is a concentration spell, meaning you can stop the caster from having the cloud out if you break their concentration.
Cloudkill also has aConstitution save, meaning that any character with a high Constitution stat will have a higher chance of not being afflicted by the poison.

Concentration
There are certain spells in the game that use concentration.Spells with concentration can only work if said concentration is still active.
When you are casting a concentration spell, itwill remain active even after the fight. You can remove it by clicking the spell’s icon under your left-bar icon or beside your icon at the bottom of the screen or selecting it in your wheel again on console.

Toremove an enemy’s concentration, you can inflict damage on them, kill them, or manipulate their body in some way, such as knocking them off their feet.
When you inflict damage on someone who has concentration up,there is a Saving Throw chance for them to still keep concentration.

Fog Cloud
Fog Cloudis alevel-one conjurationspell that can beacquired bysorcerers, wizards, and druids.
You can also get this spell through subclasses of Fighter, Draconic Ancestry, and Cleric that enable spellcasting.
This spell isalso a concentration spell, so someone can knock you out of your concentration and recast Cloudkill if they please.
Fog Cloud will completely remove Cloudkillif placed directly on top. The spell persists forten turnsandBlindsanyone inside of it, so while you will be saving your teammates, you will also be blinding them.
Darkness
Darkness is alevel two evocationspell that can be learned by asorcerer, warlock, wizard, and subclasses of other classes and races, such as a paladin or an Asmodeus tiefling.
Just like the spell Fog Cloud, the Darkness spell willBlind anyone inside it. While in Fog Cloud your attack range is limited, andin Darkness, you cannot range attackat all.
Though you cannot perform ranged attacks in a Darkness cloud, enemies cannot aim into the cloud either, soyour party members would be safer than inside Fog Cloud.
The spell persists forten turnsand uses concentration. Darknesscompletely removes Cloudkillwhen placed overtop.
Gust Of Wind
Gust of Wind is alevel two evocationspell that can be learned bydruids, sorcerers, wizards, and the Tempest Domaincleric subclass.
This spell is different from the others in terms of how it disperses Cloudkill. Gust of Wind willonly remove that which is in the area of effect.
The wind cast moves in a straight lineinstead of as a round area of effect, andonly the clouds in its path will be removed.
With Gust of Wind, you will still have remaining Cloudkill on the battlefield. This spelldoes not require concentration.
