No Rest For The Wicked might be the first heist inPayday 3, but it’s far from simple or easy. Going in without a plan, or just suffering from plain bad luck, can turn even this fairly straightforward job into a fight for survival.
Like any good Payday heist, there’s a lot to know if you want to get into SCB Bank’s cash-filled vault. This guide breaks down every detail of the heist, whether you’re going in quiet or with guns blazing. We’ve got the intel - getting in and out with the money is up to you.
How To Enter The Bank
Facing the bank, there are three ways to enter the building:
Going in through the front door is the easiest, and can get you sight lines into some secured areas, but you won’t be able to do much here without tripping alarms. In multiplayer,have at least one teammate wait in the lobbyof the bank. If the team is detected, that player can immediately mask up andstart taking hostagesfrom the many customers and employees there.
The left side of the bank has a parking lot that you can walk around in without raising suspicion. The side door is usuallywatched by a security guard and a camera, but it’s also the closest to the vault, which isimmediately to the rightwhen you leave the storage room inside. In most cases,this will be your main escape route, through the alleyway across the parking lot from the bank.
The right side of the building has afence that you can lockpick. Going around the back this way risks discovery by the guards and cameras at the rear, but it offers two advantages if you can pull it off; first, you canuse the fire escape to reach the roofand enter the building’s stairwell from above. Second, if you’re masked up you canbreak into the manager’s officeat the corner of the building to steal some data on an important safe-deposit box (see below).
The roof is lightly patrolled, and a spotter can help infiltrators from the fire escape or the sun windows bypointing out guards and cameras.
How To Enter The Vault Without Raising The Alarm (Stealth)
If you’re able to remain undetected, you candisable the electromagnetic lockon the vault. You’ll first need to enter theelectrical room, which is randomly placed somewhere on the second floor or on the roof. It requires a keycard, either red or blue, which can bestolen or lootedfrom the security guards inside the bank. Once you’re in the electrical room,hack the computerto set the security system to maintenance mode.
Next, you’ll need to turn off the power to the vault. On the first floor, you’ll see ared wirethat runs from the vault door to a circuit-breaker. Follow it anddisable the breaker. Back in the power room, a screen on the server will showone or more symbolswhen activated.Flip the switches with the matching symbolsat the control panel next to the vault entrance.
Next, you’ll need to input a code to enter the vault.The bank managerknows the code; abduct him from his office andshove him into the retinal scannerto the left of the keypad. The computer in the meeting room can be interacted with display four codes, one of which is correct. If you’re playing solo,set up a microcameraand zoom in on the screen to check the codes as you enter them.
The vault keypad is visible from the lobby;watch out for guardswho might notice your break-in!
How To Use Thermite To Enter The Vault (Loud)
If the team is discovered, you’ll have to switch to a new tactic;burning through the vault roof with thermite.When the alarms go off,take any hostages you canwhile one player goes to the parking lot. Wait there for the helicopter to arrive and drop a bag with the thermite.Take the bag to the second floor via the stairwelland drop it in the target area just to the left of the door. Once the thermite is in place,ignite itto start burning through the floor.
While you’re waiting, the chopper will return with more thermite, dropping iteither on the roof or in the parking lot.Recovering the extra bags and throwing them on the fire willspeed up the process.
During police assaults, the cops will attempt to turn on the sprinkler system. If this happens, you’re able to turn it off by finding thered fire panel.This switch is randomly placed on the second floor, either in thebreak roomor thecenter office area.Hitting the switch will disable the sprinklers until another cop turns them back on. While the sprinklers are on, thethermite will burn slower.
Wait a few seconds after throwing a thermite bag onto the fire before you add another; if you add a bag while the fire is burning high,it will trigger the sprinklers.
Once the burn is complete, you’ll be able todrop through the hole in the floorinto the vault and unlock it from inside.
How To Secure The Loot
Once you’re in the vault, you’ll need toenter the security cage.This is a moderately long lockpick, so if anyone on your team has skills that will help, let them handle it. Once the door is unlocked,let your team knowwhen you’re about to open it. A few seconds after the door is opened,dye packs in the cash bundles will explode, rendering the money worthless. You candisable the dye packsby interacting with them, but thismust be done by two or more playersworking together if you hope to get all of them in time.
Before opening the door, assign one player to start from the left, and another from the right. They should be able to disable all the dye packs by the time they meet in the middle.
Once the cash is bagged, you’ll need to reach the escape point before the getaway driver will start making his way toward you. If you have time, or if the police assault is too heavy to risk leaving, you’re able to get extra loot byopening the safe deposit boxes.
Optional Objective: How To Find The Executive’s Safe-Deposit Box
Throughout the bank are files that lead to a specific safe-deposit box containingsensitive datathat you can collect for extra profit. You can find these documents randomly placed ontables and bookshelvesin three locations; the manager’s office on the first floor, the meeting room directly across from it, and the rooms with copy machines upstairs.
The copy machine rooms also havea safe full of cash, but its exact location will change with each run. There is usually a safe in themanager’s officeas well.
Once you’ve found the correct document, the sub-objective will complete and the safe-deposit box in the vault which contains the Wixia intelwill be highlighted.If you don’t find the documents, you can still find the intel byopening boxes until you find it.
How To Lower The Bollards And Escape
The safest route to the extraction point isthrough the alley across from the parking lot.This provides cover from snipers and dumpsters to hide behind if you encounter resistance.
When you emerge on the other side, Shade will tell you that you need tolower the street bollardsso that the van can approach. You’ll need to find and switch offtwo power boxesrandomly placed along the road. The location of the bollards indicates where the van will arrive. if you’re lucky, it will be near the alley mouth. If you’re not lucky, it will be a block down the street to your left.
The number of power boxes increases the higher you set the difficulty!
While you’re waiting for the van to arrive,stash any bags you’re carryingbetween the planters on the far side of the street. The cops are much less likely to try and retrieve them from there, and you’ll be able to quickly load the loot into the van.
A coordinated team can toss bags to one another in a line from the vault to the alley to speed up the process of moving everything from the bank.
Once the van arrives,load as many bags as you caninto the back, then gather around the vehicle to escape. If you take too long, the police will raise the bollards again; you’ll have todisable both power boxes againbefore you can leave.
