Who Is The Archdruid Halsin?
Halsin is the350-year-old archdruidof the Druid Grove in Act One. He’s a powerful druid with aknack for wild shape, preferring to take theform of a bearin combat.
Depending on the subclasschosen for him, he cantransform into mighty beastsand cast incrediblespells that deal immense damageto enemies.
Recruiting the archdruid is a worthy cause, gaining youfavor with other party membersand NPCs from the Druid Grove. For those who want more than a professional adventuring relationship, here’s what you need to do towin his heart.
Where To Find Halsin
At first, Halsin is not available.He’s gone missing after teaming up with Aradin’s expedition to find passage through the Underdark. After beingcaptured by goblins, it’s up to you tofind and free him.
Make your way to the Goblin Camp andsneak into the Worg pens. You’ll find a few goblinsharassing a bearin a cage. If youstand up for the bearand tell the goblins to knock it off, the bear willbreak out of the cageand initiate combat.
How To Get Halsin At Your Camp
Once free of his cage, Halsin will task you withslaying the leadersof the Goblin Camp: True Soul Gut, Minthara, and Ragzlin. You canpick them offone by one, but initiating combat with Ragzlin will alert the whole camp, andyou’ll be in for a tough fight.
you’re able to bring Halsin with you to fight the goblins, as he’s a powerful ally. However, there will be no opportunity for stealth, as Halsin’s emotions get the better of him and he unleashes his power on the goblins.
After wiping out the Goblin Camp, Halsin willreturn to the Druid Grove. He will join you at yourcamp for the celebration, though you won’t be able to spend the night with him yet. Make sure toexhaust his dialogue options–particularly anything pertaining to lovers.
While there isn’t much romance to be had with Halsin in Act One, these actionslay the groundworkfor the next steps and budding relationship with the archdruid.
How To Recruit Halsin
To permanentlyadd Halsin to your party, making him a playable character, you’ll need tolift the Shadow Curse. This questline is imperative, as itbuilds your relationship, frees Halsin of his burden, and aligns with his beliefs.
Once you reuniteOliver and Thaniel, Halsin will be able to join you as a party member. Again, ensure to exhaust his dialogue options tolearn more about himand build your bond.
If you do not get a cutscene of the Shadow Curse lifting as you cross the bridge into Baldur’s Gate, then Halsin will remain unattainable. It’s vital that you lift the Shadow Curse completely in Act Two.
How To Gain Halsin’s Approval
Halsin is a simple man.He loves natureand maintaining the balance of it. Taking action toprotect nature, restore balance, or show kindness(especially to animals) is sure to win his approval.
Being outrightcruel or destructivewill lose points.Supporting the tieflingsthrough all three acts willearn his approval, as will honoring hisbeliefs as a druid.
Your character doesn’t need to be a druid to be respectful of his faith, however, takingat least one level in druidallows for a more unique perspective in conversations (and potentiallyunique dialogue options).
How To Get Halsin’s Romance Scene
To getHalsin’s romance scene, you’ll need toenter Act Threewith him in your camp. If you’vecompleted all the prerequisites, it’s only a matter of time beforehe’ll want to talkto you at camp.
Triggering Halsin’s conversation may take a few long rests, especially if you have collected many companions.
If you’re eager to reach the scene, take a few long rests at camp without using camp supplies until there’s an exclamation point over his head.
When youtalk to Halsin at camp, he’ll tell you that he’s searching fora new purposeafter lifting the Shadow Curse. He’s done some soul-searching and discovered thathe wants you.
You can deny him if you wish, and witness the masculine druid wither in rejection, or you cantell him you’re interested. If you’re in a relationship already,he’ll ask that you get consentfrom them first.
If you tell Halsin that you’re not interested, you’re able to be blunt or let him down easy.
Either way, he honors your friendship and he will remain in your party.
Some party members, like Astarion and Shadowheart,don’t mind sharing youwith the druid. Others, like Gale and Karlach, will not approve. You’ll have tobreak things offwith your partner if they want to remain exclusive, asHalsin will not actwithout their consent.
Once you’vesettled the detailsof any prior relationship agreements, you canpursue a nightwith Halsin.
How To Romance Halsin In Bear Form
A humorous bit to Halsin is that whenhis emotions run wild, so does he. In the heat of the moment, he gets excited andwild shapes into a bear. If you’d like,you can pursue himin this form.
To reach this romance scene, you’ll need toanswer as follows:
First choice:
Anyanswer will work, except “You’re not wrong, this was a mistake.” All answers will move the sequence forward, butadmitting this is a mistakewill put an end to it.
Second choice:
Any answer will work here as well, sochoose one that suits you.
Third choice:
Afterwitnessing Halsin’s transformation, he’ll turn back into an elf. When he apologizes, tell him “Don’t apologize. I like it.”
Fourth choice:
He’ll warn youthat it will be intense. Respond with “Yes. Change back again. Let me have the beast… and let the beast have me.”
Fifth choice:
Either thefirst or second optionswill work. So long as youdon’t tell him to keep it in mindfor another night or outright deny him.
If you follow these steps, Halsin will happilytransform again and initiate. You’ll romance the party’slovable teddy bearwhile a rather horrified-looking squirrel watches from afar.
How To Romance Halsin As Himself
If you’d rather have amore traditional approachto this encounter, you can do so. The only differences to get this path are as follows:

Tell him that it’s something to keep in mind for another night.
Telling Halsin you’d rather not engage in an intimate affair with a bear won’thurt your standing with him. You enact the second route here, sharing a moment with Halsin as himself.
How The Halsin’s Romance Impacts The Story
Aside from a potentially humorous encounter,there are potential consequences. While no one will leave your party because of this interaction, you may find yourselfshort one long-term lovefrom Act One if you had to break things off.
While Halsin admits his feelings for you,he will not committo an exclusive relationship. It’snot in his nature, though that doesn’t diminish his feelings for you. You can continue toadd him to your partyand adventure with him (and your potential ex) without issue.
