InLies Of P, there are hidden things waiting for you to discover. These can be items, NPCs, or even mysterious Cryptic Vessels. To unveil the secrets within these Vessels, you must first bring them to Venigni for decoding. It’s usually worth the effort because they often lead to valuable treasures.

Most of the time, you’ll find these Cryptic Vessels hidden in the game’s open world, tucked away behind secret passages or turns. However, there’s a different one that is given to you by an NPC who has no clue what to do with it. We’re talking about the Old Cryptic Vessel.
Where To Find The Old Cryptic Vessel
The Old Cryptic Vesselcan be obtained in theBarren Swamparea, but you need to make some progress in the game to access it.
Once you reach theBarren Swamp Bridge Stargazer, don’t move forward. Instead,turn aroundandlook for a locked gate. When you approach it, you’ll come across anNPC named Rookie Explorer Hugo.
Talk to Hugo, and he’ll ask if you’re familiar with thetreasure hunter Alidoro.
After you’ve finished his initial conversation,speak to him again. This time, choose the “Talk” option and then select “About the discovered treasure.”
Hugo will mention that he has a mysterious Cryptic item;which is the Old Cryptic Vessel, that he can’t figure out andwill offer it to you.
The way to handle this Cryptic Vessel mirrors what you’ve seen with others you may have come across.
Now, follow the same procedure as you would for any Cryptic Vessel.
Return to Hotel Krat and give it to Venigni. After he deciphers it for you, you’ll receive theOld Cryptic Vessel Decryption.
How To Solve The Old Cryptic Vessel
First things first,open the Old Cryptic Vessel Decryption, and you’ll findan imageand aclue leading you to the location: “Order: An old shack in the Tomb Slums in Malum District. Look for the bleak tree and laundry line, then enter the shack next to them.”
Although it mentions Malum District, you need to head to the location before reaching it.
Begin by traveling tothe Path of Pilgrim Stargazer. On yourleft, there’s aroom with an elevator. Take the elevatorall the way down. Essentially, you’ll be retracing your steps a bit to reach your destination.
After that,move straight ahead and climb upward until you spot a bonfire’s light. As you approach,you’ll come across a stranger.
Interact with him, and he’ll provide you with theRobbers' Shack Key.
This keyunlocks the room just behind you on the left side.
However, once you’ve unlocked the door,HOLD ON for a moment.This is a trap.
If you proceed straight ahead to the chest in front of you,the floor will collapse. So, what you want to do isjump to the right sidetoavoid this trap
you may still find your way back to the same location where the man was if you fall.But it’s better to make the jump directly from the beginning.
The only difference is the dialogue option with the stranger, as he won’t be too pleased about you outsmarting him.
Upon looting this chest, you’ll acquirea Legion Caliber and a Life Amulet +1.
