Inventory management is one of the biggest nightmares during the mid and late game ofStarfield. If you don’t use some console commands or mods, you’ll constantly be running out of space in your Cargo and Inventory. Moreover, you’ll need a ton of inventory space if you want to move certain items between outposts.

The main reason to create an outpost for most players is to extract various resources, and you’d also have to compile these resources at a specific location. You’ll have to take the help of Cargo Links if you want to do that without emptying your Inventory all the time.
How To Build A Cargo Link
To build a Cargo Link, the first thing you’ll need is two outposts. Technically, you only need one outpost to build the structure, but it’s completely useless until you have another one. There are two types of Cargo Links in the game, and here’s the difference between them and the resources required to build both:
Resources Required
Cargo Link
This can only be used to transfer items between youroutposts in the same Star System.
Cargo Link - Inter System
This Cargo Link can be used to transfer your items betweenany outposts even if they’re in a different Star System.
You won’t have the Cargo Link-Inter System unlocked at the start. Head over to the Research Lab andresearch Manufacturing 1 to get it.

You’ll need threeZero Wire, Adaptive Frame, Iron, and Sealanteach for this research.
Once you have an outpost set up, head over to the Build Menu andyou’ll find the Cargo Links in the Miscellaneous tab at the end. Set them up anywhere but try to make sure the two giant crates on the structure are facing toward the rest of the structures in your outpost. This will make it easier to access the Link.

How To Use Cargo Link
The process of using a normal Cargo Link and the Inter-Space Cargo Link remains roughly the same, except for one thing. If you’re planning to use the latter, you’llfirst have to connect the blue structure on the Link to a source of Helium-3. This can be done by setting an Output Link from Helium-3 Extractor or storage with the resource directly to the structure.
Once you have the required Cargo Links set up on two outposts and the Helium-3 connected wherever required, the next step is to set up links with the Output and Input containers on the Cargo Link. Here’s how to do that:

When all the connections are set up, you may head over to the Control Panel in themiddle of the two containers and select the outpost you want to connect it to. Keep in mind that the Links are required to have Helium-3 if you want them to work across Star Systems.
You only need access to Helium-3 for theCargo Link that’s supposed to export your resources.
