Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ssixth season brings a myriad of Halloween-themed goodies to the game, notably a series of skins for Spawn. This season also brought with it two new weapons for players to chase, one of which being the TR-76 Geist—otherwise known as the Malyuk or Vulcan-M.

This bullpup assault rifle behaves identically to its Kalashnikov brethren, featuring TTK and accuracy profiles that mimic the Kastov 762 before it was nerfed. This makes the TR-76 Geist an absolute powerhouse in multiplayer if you may land your shots, and it’s a solid AR for Warzone as well. This guide will explain how you can unlock the TR-76 Geist this season and cover some useful builds for MW2 multiplayer and Warzone.

COD MW2 Season 6 Battle Pass

How To Unlock The TR-76 Geist

The TR-76 Geist is unlocked through theSeason 6 Battle Pass in sector F7, located at the top-left of the Battle Pass map. Assuming you focus solely on unlocking the TR-76, it will take roughly 20 Battle Pass tokens to unlock. As with all new weapons, the TR-76 Geist may be unlocked by all players and does not require Battle Pass ownership.

DMZ Weapon Extraction

If you find a weapon in MW2’s DMZ mode and successfully extract with it in your inventory, that weapon will become usable in Warzone and MW2 multiplayer. This works with all weapons, including the TR-76 Geist.

Once you’ve unlocked the TR-76 Geist, you must level the weapon before you can begin to modify it.The TR-76 Geist has 23 levels in total.Players who own MW2 can quickly level this weapon by farming the Shipment 24/7 playlist. Warzone players should play Plunder or Resurgence whenever they’re available.

Stealth TR-76 Geist Build

This build is tailored towards MW2 multiplayer, tweaking the TR-76 to be a faster, more aggressive assault rifle that can excel at medium range. We start by adding theVLK LZR 7mwto greatly improve the weapon’s aiming stability and ADS speeds. This also gives a small boost to our sprint to fire time, something we further improve through theFSS Hardtop Comband attachment tuning. Since this weapon has a moderate degree of recoil during its first three bullets, we use theFTAC Ripper 56underbarrel andSTIP-66 Gripattachments to greatly reign in the gun’s recoil. This makes the TR-76 quite accurate up to 50 meters. Finally, we use theFR Titan Silencerto suppress every shot without imposing any ADS penalties.

The end result is an assault rifle with a fairly short 130ms sprint-to-fire delay that’s further reduced with weapon tuning, and a slightly faster ADS time of around 240ms. This isn’t quite as fast as an SMG, but it gives the TR-76 a fighting chance in just about every multiplayer map for MW2. If you’re playing Hardcore or one-life game types like Search and Destroy, consider replacing the VLK LZR attachment with a non-visible laser.

Loadout Recommendations

As this weapon build uses a suppressor and fast sprint-out times, this is the ideal weapon for astealthbuild. We recommend usingDouble Time, Fast Hands, and Ghostfor general multiplayer use.Ghost is arguably the most important perk here, hiding your character from UAV sweeps to give you an upper hand in combat. Fast Hands is great for quickly reloading after a gunfight, and Double Time makes tactical sprint far stronger. Since we aren’t using Quick Fix, we highly recommend usingStimsin your tactical slot.Dead Silencealso works well here, muffling your footsteps to make flanks far easier. Everything else about this loadout is down to preference.

Warzone TR-76 Geist Build

This build focuses on improving the TR-76 Geist’s long-range performance to make it a more competitive option for Ground War and Warzone. The most important attachment is theBruen Bridle Heavy, as it greatly clamps the weapon’s vertical and horizontal recoil. We then use theSakin Tread-40to reduce recoil deviation even further, resulting in a near-perfect vertical recoil pattern. Throw on theFTAC Ripper 56underbarrel, and now the TR-76 Geist will hardly move with sustained shots. We round off the build with a larger45 Round Magandan optic of your choice.

While the ADS speed is drastically worse on this build, the accuracy on the TR-76 is virtually perfect with this configuration. You can land consistent headshots from 50+ meters with little difficulty with these attachments, and the increased magazine makes this build ideal for Warzone. You can replace the barrel with a different recoil attachment if you wish to improve your ADS speed, but this will come at the cost of long-range accuracy.

While this weapon is ideal for long-range gunfights, the weapon’s poor ADS speed requires that youspec for Overkilland bring a close-range primary. Some good options include SMGs, shotguns, and certain ARssuch as the STB 556. As for perks, just about anything will work here. Warzone players can’t go wrong withOverkill, Bomb Squad, Fast Hands, and Ghostto cover all of their bases. For gear, theSpotter Scopeis great for spotting targets at a distance whileThrowing Knivesmake it easy to kill downed opponents. Field Upgrades are down to preference.
