He’s requesting your helpgetting rid of the thornsaround town, which you may have already found areblocking access to parts of Azoria. You won’t be able to get to further parts of the region until clearing the thorns. You’ll need tobring Alaric some prepared meals and raw materialsbefore he’s willing to give you a new power.

Once you’ve finished Alaric’s quest, he asks you towait until the following dayto get started. When you wake up the next morning, you’ll see a stylizedcutscene of you and Alaric defeating the thorns. Not only does Azoria open up even more once the quest is complete, butyou get to keep your magic staffonce you’re done!

While you’ll start off buying from Vera right in East Town, as you progress into theFae Realmand later into theMountains, you’ll need some additional potions that allow you to better adapt to each region’sclimate or natural disaster.
You’ll receive amain questrelated to each potion and will need to go back andmake it yourself to show to the person who gave you the recipebefore you can proceed. Additionally, once you’ve metBalarandi in the Fae Realm, she’ll beginselling potionsto you from her stall as well. She not only hasmore optionsthan Vera does, but she’s also gotdifferent sizes of potions.

She introduces you to the concept ofbrewing your own potions, and asks you to create a few before she allows you to proceed into theFloating Ruins.
