Baldur’s Gate 3can be pretty divisive. Should you save scum? Should you always play as a custom character? Is it morally okay to ask your druid boyfriend to shapeshift into a bear whenever you do the deed? But there is one thing we can all agree on:Karlach is hot. And not just because she’s literally on fire.

Now, fans are extending this devotion outside the game itself, buying up herMagic: The Gatheringcardthat was released last year. In fact, there’s not enough to go around, and the demand has resulted in a huge price spike. In other words, Baldur’s Gate 3 players are so horny that it could stop MTG fans from completing their decks.

This development was spotted by tabletop streamer Amazonian, showing the very sudden price spike for the Karlach MTG card earlier this month. Lo and behold, it perfectly aligns with Baldur’s Gate 3’s final launch, withTCG Playershowing the increase as starting on August 9. This suggests that it only took a matter of days forBaldur’s Gateplayers to fall in love with the tiefling. Honestly, same.

Rising from around $2 to $5.90 in a year might not be the most dramatic increase, but it’s enough to show that there’s been a significant rise in interest since the full version of the game launched. It’s also enough to increase the price of any card hauls MTG players are planning, since it all adds up.

We shouldn’t expect the price to go down anytime soon either. Even putting the simping aside for a second, Karlach, Fury of Avernus is a great card in its own right, so MTG players will be trying to get their hands on it too. This has made her the most sought-after card in the set, surpassing the boost that other characters got on their own cards when Baldur’s Gate 3 launched earlier this month.

It’s also worth taking into account that Baldur’s Gate 3 hasn’t even really seen its full launch yet. On September 6, it will also release onPlayStation 5, expanding the playerbase even further. Sometime after this, we can most likely expect anXboxrelease, asLarian Studiosis actively working on making this viable on the console -or the Xbox Series S, more specifically. The future of Karlach simping is burning bright, so we might need significantly more of those cards in circulation.
