Summary
It’s official: after the success of The Super Mario Bros Movie, Nintendo is making a live-actionZeldamovie. The film is being produced by Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad (Spider-Man 2, Iron Man) and directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes). This begs the question: which characters will be in the Zelda movie?
The Legend Of Zelda series has created some of the most iconic characters in video game history. Whether they come from a classic, likeOcarina of Time, or a modern masterpiece, likeTears of the Kingdom, dozens of Zelda characters are worthy of appearing on the big screen. But which ones should make the cut?

Link and Zelda are not included in this list since it’s a given they’ll appear in the film.
8Phantom Ganon
Every Villain Needs A Right-Hand Man
Ganon’s ghostly sidekick is practically begging for a Hollywood debut. Phantom Ganon has one ofthe most cinematic boss fightsin Ocarina of Time, where he leaps in and out of paintings before engaging in a deadly tennis match with Link. It’s an iconic moment that would look amazing on the big screen.
Phantom Ganon has a lot of potential as a movie character due to his role in Tears of the Kingdom’s shocking plot twist. Near the end of the game, it’s revealed that Zelda is actually Phantom Ganon in disguise. With so many possibilities for fight scenes and twists, seeing Phantom Ganon in the Zelda movie would be a thrill.

7The Deku Tree
The Father Figure Everyone Needs
Every hero needs a reason to go on their quest, and the Deku Tree’s tragic death motivates Link to challenge Ganondorf for the first time. This wise forest guardian is Link’s father figure in Ocarina of Time, providing plenty of compassion, advice, and Shakespeare lingo to last a lifetime.
The bond between Link and The Deku Tree is truly heartwarming. Link’s defining character trait is his undying courage, and the Deku Tree is the only resident of Kokiri Forest to recognize that. Having him appear in the Zelda movie makes sense, given his vital part in Link’s backstory.

6Skull Kid
This Thief Needs To Steal The Spotlight
Skull Kid would fit right in with Hollywood, given his flair for theatrics. This trickster isa legendary Zelda villain, thanks to his appearance in Majora’s Mask. Not only that, he’s arguably the most sympathetic antagonist in the Zelda universe due to his heartbreaking backstory.
This mischievous kid steals the show whenever he’s on-screen due to his vividly quirky personality and fleshed-out lore. Skull Kid would bring a lot of heart, backstory, and devilish comedy to the Zelda movie, which is fitting since all he wants is attention.

5The Old Man
“It’s Dangerous To Go Alone.”
The mysterious Old Man is the first character you ever meet in the Zelda series. Anyone who grew up playing the original NES Zelda rememberswhen he presented Link with his first sword while uttering the iconic line, “It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.”
His most interesting appearance is in Breath of the Wild, where he trains Link before revealing he is the ghost of the late King of Hyrule. Overall, he’s a versatile character who’s played many important roles in Link’s adventures. It would be spectacular fan service to have him bestow a sword on Link in the Zelda movie.

4Impa
Zelda’s Loyal Attendant
Impa is one of themost recurring characters in the Zelda series, often serving as Zelda’s bodyguard or nursemaid. She’s most known for her appearance in Ocarina of Time, where she’s a Sheikah warrior and the Sage of Shadows. No matter her role, she usually advises Link and points him in the right direction.
Given her massive part in the Zelda universe, it would be shocking if she wasn’t featured in the Zelda movie. Whether she stays on the sidelines to offer advice or is front and center during fight scenes, the Hyrule royal family isn’t complete without her.

3Epona
Link’s Greatest Companion
Link has takenmany transportation methods, but none compare to his trusty steed. Epona has been Link’s faithful companion since the N64, resulting in a bond that transcends time. Even when the kingdom falls and evil conquers the world, these two still find their way back to each other.
Whether you’re playing Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess, watching this duo team up to slay monsters for the first time is always satisfying. Those moments would undoubtedly translate beautifully onto the big screen, making Epona a must for the Zelda movie.

2Sheik
The Coolest Version Of Zelda
One of the best parts of The Super Mario Bros Movie is watching Peach abandon the damsel in distress trope to become a butt-kicking hero. The Zelda movie is the perfect opportunity for Princess Zelda to do the same. Sheik is Zelda’s alter-ego and a highly skilled warrior who deserves time in the spotlight.
Sheik is best known for their appearance in Ocarina of Time, but their most fascinating moments come from the manga adaptation where they’re a double agent working for Ganondorf. Sheik has so much potential to add mystery and fight scenes to the film and would make an excellent addition to the story.

1Ganondorf
All Hail The King
Of all the Zelda characters, none deserve a role in the movie more than the King of Evil. Ganondorf, also known as Ganon, is one of themost iconic video game villainsand a worthy adversary to the Hero of Time. It simply wouldn’t be a Zelda movie without him.
As the reincarnation of the Demon King Demise, Ganondorf has haunted Link and Zelda throughout time. With the Triforce of Power in his possession, he wields unthinkable strength, resulting in many adrenaline-pumping boss fights. Any encounter with Ganondorf would look epic on the silver screen, proving no other villain outshines the King.
