Fans of Like A Dragon, the series formerly known asYakuza, never usually have to wait long between games. They have been eating better than ever lately though with one game down already in 2023, another still to come, and then a third in quick succession in early 2024. Next is that middle one coming before the end of 2023, Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Launching on July 18, 2025, you can pre-order a digital copy of the game right now to make sure you stay up to date with the Like A Dragon series before it quickly marches on in 2024.
The Man Who Erased His Name is a spinoff that will take place between Yakuza 6 and Like A Dragon on the timeline. Yes, the last main installment in the series was calledYakuza: Like A Dragonbefore it was then renamed Like A Dragon. I guess that technically means it’s now called Like A Dragon: Like A Dragon in the West. Best not to think about that too much and focus on what’s next, and what’s next is The Man Who Erased His Name.

Available onPlayStation,Xbox, andPC, the digital version of the next Like A Dragon game is available to pre-order now on all three platforms. Unfortunately,Segahas confirmed it won’t be getting a physical release, but hey, you never know, if it proves popular enough, and enough people show interest in it, that might well change in the future.

WHERE TO PLAY
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name aims to bridge the classic Yakuza series starring Kazuma Kiryu and the Ichiban-focused Like a Dragon continuation. It follows Kiryu as he lives in hiding, and maintains the action-adventure gameplay of its predecessors.
The good news is if you do secure your copy of The Man Who Erased His Name early, you’ll get a pre-order bonus for doing so. Pre-order the game and you’ll get access to the Legendary Fighter Pack. Three characters are included in that pack. Daigo Dojima, sixth chairman of the Tojo Clan, Goro Majima, The Mad Dog of Shimano, and Taiga Saejima, The Slayer of Eighteen. Sega lists the pack as being a pre-order exclusive, so it presumably can’t be unlocked if you don’t order the game ahead of time.
A lot more details about the future of the Like A Dragon series were revealed recently, including the news that The Man Who Erased His Namewill include a demo for Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the other game I referenced launching in 2024. Sega making sure those who play its next game will be sticking around for the one after as if that was ever in any doubt.
