The new voice actor for both Mario and Luigi inSuper Mario Bros. Wonderhas been confirmed to be Kevin Afghani, who announced it himself on Twitter.

A few months ago, Nintendo dropped an absolute bombshell on us all - Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario ever since Mario Teaches Typing, would be leaving the role and becoming a Mario Ambassador,a new position that even he’s not sure about. Not only that, but it turns out that Martinet didn’t even get to voice the character one more time for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and was actually replaced during development of the newest game in the series.

Since that announcement, everyone has been wondering exactlywhowould be voicing Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder and, just one week before the game officially launches, we finally know who it is.As revealed on Twitter by the actor himself earlier today, Mario and Luigi are both being voiced by Kevin Afghani, best known for his role as Arnold in Genshin Impact.

Afghani said, “Incredibly proud to have voiced Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Thanks to Nintendo for inviting me into the Flower Kingdom”. It’s not yet known if Afghani is also the new voice of Wario, although it’s possible considering Martinet handled those three roles along with Waluigi over the past 30 years.

It’s interesting to note that Nintendo itself said just a few months ago after revealing Charles Martinet’s departure from the role that itwouldn’t be announcing who the new voices of Mario and Luigi are until Super Mario Bros. Wonder had actually launched, with Pete Bowser saying, “We’ll let that play out and that’ll be within the credits. People will learn who the new person is at that point in time, but we don’t plan to make any announcement in advance of that”.

It’s not clear what has changed since Bowser made that announcement, but it’s possible that it has something to do with the Target demo kiosks being datamined a few days ago.Famiboards user MondoMega shared a list of the cast members that had been discovered from the datamine, which caused Mario fans to start asking those on the cast list if they were the new voice actors for Mario and Luigi.

Although many assumed that Mick Wingert was going to be voicing Mario based on the cast list, that was actually deconfirmed by his agent earlier today not to be the case. Now we know for sure that it’s actually Afghani taking on the role, as well as reportedly voicing the Talking Flower.
