As we inch closer to the end of theNintendo Switch’s life cycle, there is still no sign thatMetroid Prime 4will be here before it’s gone. On the bright side, it’s not as if we haven’t had plenty of otherMetroidgames to play on the Switch. Classic games from the series onNSO, the fantastic remaster ofMetroid Primeearlier this year, and best of all,Metroid Dreadwhich you can get for half price right now to celebrate its second anniversary.

Dread turned two over the weekend andNintendowants those of you who haven’t picked it up already to give it a try. One of the many popular Nintendo games that rarely drops in price because it doesn’t need to, Dread has been $60 since it launched, other than the odd occasion when it’s caught up in a sale. This might well be the cheapest a brand new copy of the game has been available for since it launched.

The bad news is Amazon’s price reduction of Dread appears to have been limited to the day of its anniversary which has been and gone. The good news is GameStop doesn’t appear to have been so strict. The anniversary celebrations have continued and Dread can be bought through the site for just $30 by following the link below.

WHERE TO PLAY

Metroid Dread is a 2021 Nintendo Switch game originally intended for the Nintendo DS. In it, Samus must investigate the planet ZDR. Dread returns to the classic side-scrolling gameplay of the series, following detours into the FPS and action-adventure genres.

As it stands, Dread may well be the only truly unique Metroid game the Switch gets. Yes, there are plenty of Metroid games available on Switch right now, but Dread is the only new one, and it was a long time coming. It was well worth the wait though, and I would highly recommend picking up a copy if you haven’t played it already. It might be the only new Metroid game on Switch, but it will go down as one of the very best Switch games among titles that will be remembered as some of the best games of all time.

Even though the Switch’s run will likely come to an end, or at least take a backseat to whatever’s coming next in 2024, there’s still a lot more to come. Most notablySuper Mario Bros. Wonderwhich launches in less than two weeks. After that there’s theSuper Mario RPG Remake, and thenMario vs. Donkey Kong,Princess Peach: Showtime, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD in 2024. And hey, maybe we will still get Metroid Prime 4 before Nintendo moves on.
