Like past games in the series,Mortal Kombat 1has weekly and daily challenges. Completing these gets you in-game currency, and completing a set number earns you a cosmetic. In the first week of early access, these challenges rewarded players with a Li Mei skin, but due to bugged progression, not everyone earned it.

The objectives were pretty simple, like block 20 times or connect 50 uppercuts. Unfortunately, the challenges didn’t track properly. I playedInvasions, towers, and the online Kombat League to see if it was a problem with the game mode, but my uppercuts stayed forever at six out of 50. Blocks never went past two. As such, I didn’t get the Li Mei skin, and similar reports are surfacing online, pointing to this being a widespread issue.

“I missed the Li Mei ‘weekly’ skin because the ‘connect uppercuts’ did not count for me (after tons of uppercuts, it’s just seven out of 50),“TheThiny said. “Did anyone else face this problem? (I’m not mad about the skin).”

Several replied to TheThiny’s tweet to back up his claims, confirming that they had also run into this bug. “Yeah, stats are all over the place, it’s even [telling me I only] played for like two hours, when I’ve cleared story and Invasions [and] only need six trophies to platinum,” @ringy5421 said.

Over on the Mortal Kombat Leaks subreddit, others claimed to have run into the same progression bug. Luckily, one user discovered a workaround. “SOLUTION FOR THE UPPERCUT CHALLENGE: go to the boss stage on Sun Do in invasions,” Vikat1 said. “Pick a character with low damage like Rain, set a relic that gives minus 25 percent damage. you may get the 50 in one match. Still don’t have the Li Mei skin though, so I don’t know about that.”

While some couldn’t get challenges to progress, others had a far more annoying problem. “Worse than not counting, it goes… backwards for me?” RainRainKeku said. “No idea what is happening, maybe it started at 25 uppercuts and went down? No idea.”

Two players replied and said the same had happened to them, while others shared that the 10,000 damage quest had also bugged. This happened to me, as well. It stayed locked at around 1,000 despite me having beaten Invasions in its entirety and playing several matches of Kombat League. I definitely went above and beyond 10,000.

Players also report progression for daily challenges not registering, but at the time of writing, neither issue has been resolved.
