Mortal Kombatfans are happy to see Nitara finally return after 17 years, but they’re a little more mixed on her new design and want the “pirate” look from the 3D era to make a comeback.
Yesterday was a pretty big day for Mortal Kombat fans asnot only did the final launch roster for Mortal Kombat 1 leak, but we alsogot an official look at everyone’s favourite 3D-era vampire - Nitara. Better yet, this timeline’s Nitara is played by Megan Fox, who seems to be having a great time in the role and giving it her all, which certainly can’t be said for previous celebrity performances.

As great as it is to see one of the most highly-requested 3D-era characters appear in the launch roster for Mortal Kombat 1, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t initially know it was even supposed to be Nitara. Aside from the wings, this timeline’s version of the character has a markedly different design than she did in the 3D era, going from looking like a goth pirate with massive boots to a warrior demon design that’s similar to Ashrah’s new look.
Although a lot of Mortal Kombat fans are happy to see the character’s return, it seems that most of them are a little more mixed about the redesign. Over on the Mortal Kombat subreddit,Redditor help3509 asked the rest of the community for their thoughts on Nitara’s new look, and the results are a little mixed.
As of the time of writing, the most up-voted comment on the thread is one from Redditor Zetra3, who says that they’re fine with Nitara’s new look, but that they want her original 3D-era “pirate” look to be included in the game as well. Whether it’s called that or the “Kiss” look, the overriding opinion in the thread is that fans want to see Nitara’s classic design included in the game so they can use that instead of the new timeline one.
Outside of wanting the pirate look, reactions to Nitara’s design are a little more mixed. While some fans think that she’s turned out well and that her wings specifically look great, others have pointed out how similar Nitara’s outfit is to the rest of the cast, with the same open-toe shoes and metallic armor plates that can be seen on characters like Ashrah.
Some specific complaints have also been made about Nitara’s new headpiece and hair, with several fans hoping that it’s the part of her design that can be changed out as part of the game’s customization and gear system. Even with those comments and the hopes for the return of Nitara’s edgier look, most Mortal Kombat fans seem happy that Nitara’s back at all, even if she does look very different than the last time we saw her.
