In a huge leak from the FTC v Microsoft case, in which several documents have been shared without redactions, it was revealed that Xbox and Bethesda are working on a newDishonoredandDoomgame.
The new Doom is called Year Zero, and Bethesda already has plans for two expansions. However, this document is three years old and pre-dates Microsoft’s buyout of Bethesda, so anything could have changed in that time. For instance, the document also reveals that Bethesda was working on Oblivion and Fallout 3 remasters, but Oblivion’s release date has passed, so it has clearly been delayed.

Likewise, Doom Year Zero is supposed to launch in fiscal year 2023 according to this document, but that ends on September 30, so it has evidently been pushed back. However, only yesterday, it was reported that id Software had begun work on a new version of its game engine, now called id Tech 8 (thanks,Wccftech). This may be for Doom Year Zero.
Dishonored 3 is currently slated for fiscal year 2024, but given that Oblivion and Doom Year Zero were internally delayed, it’s likely that all dates on this release schedule have been pushed back. The last Dishonored game was seven years ago, and in that time, Arkane has releasedDeathloopandRedfall, the latter of which launched only this year.
While the last Dishonored game is nearly a decade old, we did find out recently that Deathloop is set in the Dishonored universe, as confirmed by Arkane itself. “Spoilers ahead! To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the release of Dishonored, Arkane Studios' Dinga Bakaba (studio director, Arkane Lyon) and Harvey Smith (co-creative director/studio director, Arkane Austin) went on the official Xbox podcast to confirm that Deathloop is set in the Dishonored universe.”
Deathloop is set after Death of the Outsider, when the Outsider is not in function anymore. How it will tie into Dishonored 3, if at all, isn’t clear.
Also revealed in the document is a newGhostwire: Tokyogame. The first only launched last year in March, but according to the schedule, Bethesda plans to release the sequel in fiscal year 2024 alongside Dishonored 3 andThe Elder Scrolls 6.
We’ve since heard that TES 6 is at least three to five years out, so take all release dates shown here with a grain of salt. Regardless, Bethesda isn’t done with Ghostwire just yet.
