It feels a little bit like any time anyone dares to suggestNintendowill reveal theSwitch’s successor any day now and confirm it’ll be here sometime in 2024, Nintendo responds by doing something that suggests the Switch still has a lot of life in it yet. Whether it’s announcing a bunch of games all at once,Super Mario Bros. Wonderleading the way, or revealinga brand new special edition OLED Switchlaunching right before Wonder.
Speaking of which, Nintendo has now added to that pile by revealing two more Switch models launching before the end of 2023. Two more Switch Lites, a model that has been seriously overlooked when it comes to special edition versions, whose designs are inspired byAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. A teal Timmy and Tommy’s Aloha Edition, and a coral Isabelle’s Aloha Edition.

Both consoles have Animal Crossing-style leaves printed on the back, and both also come with a copy of New Horizons. Definitely worth noting as not only is that not usually the case, but it actually very rarely happens. Nintendo or otherwise, special edition consoles usually launch before the games they’re connected to to promote them so naturally can’t include the game itself. Mario Wonder’s red Switch is a perfect example of that.

Before you go rushing to Nintendo’s online store to bag your special edition Switch Lite, it seems both consoles will be exclusive to retailers rather than sold through an official Nintendo channel. The teal Timmy and Tommy Switch Lite will be sold exclusively atWalmart, while you’ll need to go to visit theTargetlink below once it goes live if you want the Isabelle edition.

Nintendo didn’t stop at new Switch Lites when it comes to making it clear that it plans on selling a lot of consoles this holiday season. It has also revealed a newMario Kart 8 DeluxeSwitch bundle which comes with three months ofNintendo Switch Online. Perhaps signs that this will be the last Christmas during which the Switch is Nintendo’s newest console before it’s replaced by whatever’s next about a year from now.
