InRemakewe saw a 40-hour adventure confined to Midgar, withSquare Enixexpanding what was a small part of the original game into a much grander adventure with bigger locations, new characters, and a subversive reinvention of the narrative its sequel is bound to build on. There was a fear that recreating the world we all know and love at an appropriate scale with modern production values and mechanics would prove impossible, or at least risk diluting so much of it with needless grinding and superfluous side activities....

Speaking at Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival 2023, Hironobu Sakaguchi says he’s “absolutely not” working on the MMO, and that he never will. This comes after some fans assumed Sakaguchi had attended Fan Fest to announce some kind of collaboration, but as it turns out, he’s just there as a fan. I was sold on Gunbrella from the moment I heard its punny name and saw its titular weapon in action. Call me a mark all you want, but it’s a shotgun combined with an umbrella - how could anyone not instantly be on board? As awesome as the Gunbrella is, there’s a whole lot more to love about Doinksoft’s latest game.
