One of the most basic goals in any video game is to save the world. Just about everyone who games has played a title where you’re tasked with going on an epic adventure to stop a nefarious villain, but when it comes to RPGs, there are a few groups of heroes who really shouldn’t have been able to save the day. RELATED:The Best RPGs Where You Can Build A Town Whether it’s due to the odds just being so stacked against the heroes, the group not having the expertise to take on the challenges before them, or just because the only reason the group manages to thrive is thanks to your control, not every RPG party should be able to make it to the end of their journey....

Starfieldtakes a long time to show its true colours. While itsopening hours throw you into a vast universe with little guidance, as you’re immediately labelled the most important person in all existence, the actual act of embracing its 1,000 planets and making your mark upon them is a bit more challenging. It takes a while to feel like you aren’t aimlessly flailing all over the place. Because of this, a lot of critics and fans suggested blitzing through the main quest to access New Game+ where the ‘real game begins’....

Video games have a nostalgia problem. The industry is constantly reliant on a cynical stream of remasters, remakes, and reboots to keep the money rolling in. Such projects not only mitigate risk and guarantee profits, but alleviate the problems that arise from hoping to create a subversive sequel or entirely new universe where millions of fans aren’t signed up for the ride already. It’s a sad state of affairs, and who knows when we will break free of it....

Starfieldis a pretty realistic depiction of what the world would look like should humanity ever venture out into space and leave Earth behind. It chooses to ignore some of the wackier elements of the sci-fi genre in favor of a NASA Punk aesthetic that has served it well. However, there’s one part of Starfield that fans find a little bit unrealistic, and that the complete lack of cats and dogs across the entire Settled Systems....

Starfieldmay not be your typical looter shooter, as it’s more concerned with telling a compelling story in a vast world than having you slaughter the same enemies over and over again just for the chance for a slightly more powerful pistol to drop from their body. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any who try and get the strongest gear they can though, and many people are starting to get pretty sick of Starfield’s “laughable” loot drops....

Tekken 8still appears to be quite a ways away, with the game only having just wrapped up its first Closed Network Test earlier this month. That means that we still don’t know a lot of the game’s base roster, and fans have been unsurprisingly bugging Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada with character requests. Unfortunately, it seems like a some of these requests are a bit more aggressive than Harada would like, as he recently put a fan on blast for a “silly threat” with a detailed explanation on why fans shouldn’t do it....

If the bosses from the first game weren’t enough to quench your thirst for all things Soulslike, Blasphemous 2 gives you some challenging and just plain awesome-looking bosses to fight. Seriously, the animations and pixel art are something to behold. Summary Disneyhas lots of cat characters, each with their own purrfect appearances and lovable personalities that enamor you as soon as they set foot on screen. Whether they’re the protagonist or secondary characters who steal the limelight with their humor or general cuteness, these Disney cats are the best of the feline world. Blasphemous 2’s main game path is certainly thrilling, but if you stick rigidly to it throughout your journey then you’ll miss out on some of the very best it has to offer. Down branching side routes you’ll discover a cast of colourful characters, each steeped in their own wince-inducing penance, each with a final favour to ask of you. Horror games have no fearof exploring many different styles and ways to scare your audience. Jump scares and spooky creatures are a dime a dozen, but creating an atmosphere where you’re at the edge of your seat even while nothing is going on? That’s something only a developer with an understanding of what makes humans terrified will truly be able to grasp. Surreal horror takes things that you are fearful of in reality, such as death and the feelings of guilt and failure, and externalizes them in a disorienting way that makes you feel as though you can’t trust what you see....

With its nearly two-decade lifetime, theXbox 360console saw quite an astonishing library of titles featuring visceral combat and non-stop action in the form of shooters or hack-and-slash games. And though the Xbox 360 store is shutting its doors in 2024, there’s still plenty of time to get some of these action offerings,along with other hidden gems. It’s exciting to see how much Universal Studios Hollywood is embracing video games. During my visit to the amusement park this weekend I spent the day in Super Nintendo World, an immersive Mushroom Kingdom-themed section of the park where you race koopalings through Bowser’s Castle, battle a piranha plant for coins, and watch Chef Toad cook fire flower spaghetti in the Toadstool Cafe. During Halloween Horror Nights, a nightly event that runs now through October 31, there’s even more video game representation....
