Completing aPokemongame is one thing. Finishing its Pokedex is the next level after that. However, the ultimate challenge for any trainer is completing a game’s shiny ‘dex. Hunting down shiny variants of every single Pokemon in the game. Turns out you may do that in the real world too, and I’m not talking aboutPokemon Go. Pokemon’sFunko Pop! figureshave shiny versions too, and now Squirtle is about to become a part of that exclusive club.
Pokemon’s shiny Pop! figures aren’t shiny in the same way that Pokemon in the regular games are shiny. Shiny Pokemon are a different color from their regular versions, whereas Pokemon Pops are simply just, shinier. That’s probably whyFunkoand The Pokemon Company don’t call shiny Pokemon Pop! figures shiny at all. They’re referred to as pearlescent.

Pokemon gave Pop! hunting trainers a first look at the pearlescent Squrtle figurethis week on X, confirming in the same post that the new Pop! is available to pre-order right now. You can secure your own pearlescent Squirtle Pop! through thePokemon Centerbelow, but don’t be surprised if it’s already sold out. As you likely know already since I’m assuming you’re Pokemon fans, anything like this, especially with the term limited edition slapped on it, doesn’t hang around for long.
Pearlescent Squirtle Funko Pop!
Squirtle already has a couple of Funko Pop! figures, but this one is a little different. Giving the gen one Water-type a shiny coat of paint, this particular Pop! figure means Squirtle is now a part of Pokemon’s pearlescent collection.
If you are too late to the party and the new Squirtle Pop! is sold out by the time you visit the Pokemon Center, don’t despair. There’s nothing noting the Squirtle is so limited that no more will ever be made available. Keep checking back to see if there has been a restock and also ensure you’re following Pokemon on X as that will likely be where a Pop! restock is announced first.
Although there are a few Pokemon Funko Pops to collect already, far from every ‘mon has been given the Pop! treatment. You can get a set featuring Eevee and all of its gen one Eeveelutions though which is pretty special, and Scorbunny is one of the newer Pokemon to have already received its own Pop! figure, proving it to be the bestSword & Shieldstarter. I don’t make the rules, but that’s the right call.
Funko has also made it possible for you to get your hands on what will ultimately be the rarest Pop! of all. A figure of yourself. The Pop Yourself program is now available to use through Funko’s online store. For $30, you’re able to create and own a figure that looks just like you, providing your design is up to scratch, and even give them a couple of accessories and a little cat or dog companion.
