Like it or not, Pikachu was chosen to bePokemon’s mascot more than 25 years ago and well, it’s probably fair to say things have worked out pretty well. Almost 900 more Pokemon have joined Pikachu and the rest of the original 151, and the electric mouse remains the most recognizable of them all. I’d even hazard to guess Pikachu might even be more recognizable than Mickey Mouse at this point. If not, I bet it’s a closer run thing than you might think.

Pikachu’s popularity means the Kanto original gets quite a bit more merch than just about any other Pokemon to have come since. The Electric-type already has twosquishmallowseven though there are only eight designs in total. That’s right, of the eight Pokemon squishmallows created so far, 25 percent of them are Pikachu-themed. A regular Pikachu in the original four, and a winking version which is now back in stock at the Pokemon Center.

Winking Pikachu’s squishmallow is so new that the 12-inch version available through thePokemon Centeris the only one to have been released so far. As has been the case with the first four, the 12-inch versions are released first, and then other sizes are sold in stores and through other outlets. The first wave of Winking Pikachu squishmallows sold out pretty quickly, but if you’re fast, you can bag yourself one from the second wave through the link below.

Winking Pikachu Squishmallow Plush

Pikachu is its utterly charming self in this plush! It has a wide smile and is winking one eye, meaning it’s no doubt up to some mischief. Just like all other Squishmallows, it’s soft and cuddly, so you really can’t go wrong.

The Winking Pikachu squishmallow retails at $29.99, but I’m guessing since most of you reading this are likely squishmallow aficionados that you’ve probably paid more for one or two since Pokemon hopped on the bandwagon. Stock sells out fast then Pikachu and his squishy friends quickly show up on resale sites, sometimes fetching as much as three times the price they’re listed for when sold through the proper channels.

Speaking of the other Pokemon squishmallows released so far, the other five are all out of stock right now, includingthe Piplup squishmallow that was revealed alongside Winking Pikachu. There are two more designs coming too, revealed by Pokemon earlier this month. Clefairy and Teediursa. Details on how much they will cost and when they will become available have not yet been revealed, but you may rest assured when they do go on sale, they’ll sell out immediately just like all of the other designs.
