Just like Mario did when he ran into the Phantom in the firstMario + Rabbidsgame,Rayman’s encounter with the ghostly opera Rabbid in the Phantom Show DLC sees him getting brutally roasted, from being called an eggplant to getting called out for the Rabbids taking over his games.

After a whole decade since his last appearance in a non-mobile game, today marks both the release of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope’s Rayman in the Phantom Show DLC and hopefully the permanent return of the limbless king. That should be great news for Rayman fans, but they might want to think twice before getting too excited for him, as he’s going to need to endure some painfully brutal roasting from the Phantom first.

As pointed out by Twitter user magicrabbidalt, the Phantom is up to his old tricks again in the new DLC and takes to insulting the heroes through song while they fight him.It was pretty surprising in the first game when he did it to Mario and called him out on his “plumb-shaped body type”, but that’snothingcompared to the verbal beating that he gives Rayman.

This time around, in a much jazzier performance, Phantom starts by noting that Rayman can’t make a comeback if he was never a thing in the first place, before comparing him to an eggplant as part of a running joke throughout the DLC (and possibly a callback to him being called a vegetable thingamajig in the Rayman Origins reveal trailer.

Things only get worse as it goes on, though, as the Phantom mercilessly calls Rayman a “setting star that no one will ever see” before singing that it’s not a surprise that Rayman would get eclipsed by the Rabbids. I never thought I’d see the day where Ubisoft actively makes fun of itself for how it’s treated Rayman over the years, but here we go.

After a reference to Globox and Mr Dark, the performance ends with all of the Rabbids joining in to sing as Rayman gets called weak, before finally being hit with “a flash in the pan, second fiddle to the Rabbids”. It’s shockingly honest at times to see the limbless wonder get roasted so hard after everyone asked for him back for so long, but it does make for a very funny performance.

Thankfully, Rayman isn’t the only one to get roasted either, as the Phantom has another song dedicated to Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Mario, and Beep-O. It doesn’t go anywhere near as hard as it did for Rayman, but at least they all give him a little clap at the end for his show.
