AsNintendoseems to be approaching the end of theSwitch’s run, a look back on the console’s seven years confirms it has played host to an awful lot ofPokemongames. No, not all of them have been up to the usual Pokemon standard, but there have been a few that will be remembered fondly long after we’ve all moved onto Nintendo’s next console. If you happened to miss any while busy with other games,GameStopis offering up the perfect opportunity to catch up via its buy one get one free deal.

A select few Pokemon games for the Switch are included in the offer right now.Scarlet & Violetdon’t appear to be a part of it, but judging by what people have to say about the latest Pokemon games, even after the arrival of its Teal Mask DLC, that might not be the worst thing in the world. One of the mainline games that came before it is a part of the deal though, Pokemon Shield.

For some strange reason, it’s counterpart Pokemon Sword isn’t currently included in the deal. Unsure if that’s an oversight or not as it seems a little odd, but worth checking back later if you are keen to grab Sword to see if it has been added to the games included in the deal. If you’re not bothered about picking up Sword,Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, remakes of the Gen four games, are definitely included. you’re able to even pick up both for the price of one if you don’t fancy mixing things up.

Pokemon Shield

WHERE TO PLAY

Pokemon Shield was one of two games that introduced trainers to the Galar region. Available exclusively on Nintendo Switch, like most other mainline Pokemon games, it has a partner title, Pokemon Sword.

For me, the best game included in the offer isNew Pokemon Snap. Not only my favorite Pokemon game on Switch but one of my favorite Switch games full stop. The long-awaited sequel to theNintendo 64’s Pokemon Snap, instead of catching ‘mons and forcing them to fight each other, New Pokemon Snap takes you to the Lental region where you are tasked with simply snapping pics of them instead, hence the name.

New Pokémon Snap

A sequel to the Nintendo 64 classic, New Pokemon Snap is a form of safari game in which your job is to take photos of over 200 Pokemon across six different islands and over 20 courses. You are judged on your photos, which you’re able to edit and share online.

Even though there aren’t any mainline Pokemon games coming to the Switch this year, there is still at least one more Pokemon game launching on the console before it’s replaced.Detective Pikachu Returnslaunches on October 6. There are also plenty of Pokemon toys to look out for and collect at the moment as well.Clefairy and Teddiursa are getting the squishmallow treatment, andUmbreon is being turned into a Funko Pop! figure.
