There are many quests inStarfieldwhere your choices carry enough weight to change the outcome. Many of these choices can have life-or-death consequences for the NPCs involved. One such quest is the Juno’s Gambit.

This is not a quest that you can search for. It will come to you, and you may not even remember where you picked it up. At some point, you were flying near either Tau Ceti or the Khayyam System when someone hailed your ship, asking for help taking down an Ecliptic Ship, triggering the beginning of the quest.

Destroy Ecliptic Ship

Your first step is totravel to Denebola I-B,where you’ll be face to face with a hostileEcliptic ship. Just keep shooting at it with your ship’s weapons until it’s destroyed.

Once the Ecliptic ship is taken care of, fly through the debris (picking up any loot your ship can hold) until you reach the ship that was being attacked. You’ll hear someone from that ship thank you for your help, and thenthe comms start to cut out and sound strange.

This is where the quest starts to take an interesting turn. While this may seem like a simple mission, your job now is to decide the fate of a rogue AI.

computer and codebase file on Juno’s ship in Starfield

Decide Juno’s Fate

According to Khambatta and Collins, this sentient AI named Juno has becomedangerous and killed their technician. Khambatta gives you theControl Boardthat you need to attach to Juno. Their plan is to control the Juno so Ryujin can study her.

Juno, however, requests to speak with you first. What follows is a series of requests from Juno, questions you can ask Juno, ultimately leading you to make your final decision regarding Juno’s fate.

Killer AI

One way this can end is bydeciding that Juno is dangerousand attaching theControl Board to Juno, causing her power down.

Now head back to your ship and undock. Before you can fly off,Juno boots back up, angry about being changed, and kills the Ryujin Operatives, signaling the end of the quest. You’ll get some XP and a few credits.

A New Purpose

Alternatively, you can decideit’s wrong to kill the AI and help her instead. You can do this in one of two ways:

Convincing the operatives to let Juno go isonly available if you are a member of Ryujin Industries. If you are not, killing them is your only option.

Once the matter is settled, talk to Juno one last time. Juno will ask you why you did what you did andthen ask for a new purpose. Whatever you tell her here will not change the outcome.

Undock your ship, andJuno will be off to fulfill her new purpose. If you have the Ryujin Operatives with you, make one final stop at Neon to receive your quest rewards.

What Is Inside Juno’s Code Base?

If you explore Juno’s ship, you can find a computer thatclaims to hold her Code base. The Code base file is locked behind amaster difficulty digilock, and there are entries on this computer warning you to respect her privacy and not open the file.

If you pick the lock, instead ofJuno’s Code base, you’ll find a message scolding youfor trying to peak at her innermost thoughts.
