Tips And Tricks About The Potions
Theonly way to obtain somepotions, like the dragonborn and smallfolk elixirs, is tocreate a custom player characterwith those races. Otherwise, there areno companions you can recruitwith those races before meeting Araj in Moonrise.
The potions are especiallyuseful later in Act Twowhen there arelots of enemies and consecutive battleswithout much time to rest.

These potions cansave you from taking heavy losses, especially in the Gauntlet of Shar and the assault on Moonrise Towers, regardless of what side you choose.
Should Asterion Bite Araj Oblodra?
Additionally, Araj Oblodra hasanother proposal for you. Ever since she was a little girl, she hasdreamed of being bittenby a vampire. If you haveAstarion, the roguein your party when you meet her, she’ll tell you this.
In exchange for Astarion’s bite, she’ll offer you another potion. This one will add a permanent+2 bonus to the Strength statof the character who consumes it. However, there’s one small problem.

Astariondoesn’t want todo it. You canforce him to, but he’ll greatly disapprove. You’re given two choices, affecting his affinity with you accordingly:
If you havehim bite her, he’ll immediately get sick andspit out her blood, saying it’s full of corruption. Nevertheless,Araj is happywith this interaction andupholds her end of the bargain. You’ll receive the Potion of Everlasting Vigour, which you may use on any of your characters.
You’ll have totalk about the situation with Astarion later at camp. He’s unhappy and hurt if you force him to drink her blood against his wishes.
If you respected his no, he questions your choice as he feels he should have sucked it up. For those lookingto romance Astarion, the better option is to respect his wishes.
Should You Give Araj Oblodra Blood In Exchange For Potions?
These incredibly useful potions will benefit you in the battles to come, especially since thecombat can be unforgivingwith or without the Shadow Curse at play. One potion canturn the tide in your favorwith a well-placed spell of hit point.
Don’t worry about the moral implications of the potions.Party members will not be swayedeither way if you use them to obtain potions. The onlyexception is Astarion, but only if youforce him to drinkAraj Oblodra’s blood.
Where To Find Araj Oblodra In Act Three
Once you reach the Lower City, you canfind Araj Oblodra’s housenear Sorcerous Sundries (-75, -90). When you arrive, you’ll begreeted by an explosionand Araj fleeing the house.
If you didn’t give Araj your blood in Act Two, her home will be boarded up.
She has a few words with you beforeinviting you inside. Follow her and she’ll explain that your blood was what gave her the explosive results she was looking for.
Once again, she wants you tohelp her with her experiment. She’ll offer youa Mysterious Potionto drink.
You’ll get unique dialogueif you bring Astarion with you, depending on whether or not you made him drink her blood in Act Two.
If he hasn’t bitten her, she’ll ask again.
Should You Drink The Mysterious Potion?
The mysterious potion comes with a warning: step back. It’s best toseparate from your partyand drink the potion when you’vestepped away from anyone who could get hurt.
Save before drinking the potion! The effects will be permanent.
Drinking the potion willmake your blood go boom, as Araj puts it. You become combustible, dealing fire damage to everything around you. The official name is Unstable Blood, which means your blood combusts when it comes into contact with fire.
This is incredibly useful in combatif you have resistance to fireor want to use more wide-spread attacks in battle. However, the firedoesn’t discriminate between friend and foe, so steer clear of your allies when fire is involved.
Ultimately, this willconclude your interactions with Araj Oblodraand her experiments, especially if you give her justone more vial of your extraordinary blood.
You can alsocontinue to deal with Araj;unlocking her as a trading partner.
