Two years after Sora was revealed to be the final DLC character forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, fans arestillarguing about whether he was the best pick to end the game on.

When it comes to fighting game rosters, there’s no community that’s quite as… passionate asSuper Smash Bros.fans. From constant arguments about whether Ridley was too big to be put in the game (spoiler alert - he wasn’t), to debates about whetherFire Emblemhas too many representatives or not, the Smash fandom cares a great deal about which characters get to make it into the game.

Nowhere was this more apparent than with thereveal of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s final DLC character, which also marked the last character being added to the game overall after two packs of DLC. There was a lot of pressure on this character being a big inclusion and that’s exactly what it ended up being whenKingdom Hearts' Sora was revealed to be coming to the game, setting the internet ablaze with excitement from most fans and a fair amount of annoyance from others.

Sora’s big Super Smash Bros. reveal took place two years ago (excuse me as I turn to dust), but it looks like the debate over whether Sora was the best choice for Smash’s final fighter still isn’t over, as fans are somehow still at odds with each other about it.The debate appears to have been started by Twitter user ProdigyxCD, who shared Sora’s reveal trailer on the second anniversary of the announcement, saying, “2 Years Ago. Time Stopped and the greatest thing happened”.

That tweet has been viewed 2.9 million times since it was shared and liked by 12,000 Twitter users, but that doesn’t mean that everyone agrees with the statement. Although there are a lot of Kingdom Hearts fans sharing love for the announcement in the comments and quote retweets, there are also a lot of people expressing disappointment with the reveal and wishing it was another character altogether.

One such person is Twitter user ZenkaiM2, who retweeted the trailer and said, “I snuck in the bathroom at work to watch this saw it was Sora then immediately when back to work in disappointment”, something that 14,000 Twitter users have liked. A lot of similar comments can be found in the thread, like one from whipplefingers who said, “I was at work stacking stuff in the cooler when this trailer dropped. I remember just kinda staring blankly at it, finishing out my shift and then buying nick brawl when I got home”.

Although there’s a lot of hate going around for Sora being in Smash, there’s also a lot of love to balance it out and a lot of fans pointing out that Sora’s inclusion made a lot of sense.Twitter user KeyToAeris quickly pointed out to everyonethat Sora was one of the most-requested characters across all regions, while TheJakeneutron said it was, “genuinely the greatest choice for a final reveal they could’ve chosen”. This unapologetic Kingdom Hearts fanboy certainly agrees with that.
