Among the various exciting announcements during the latestNintendo Direct, an historic reveal was made aboutSuper Smash Bros. Specifically the amiibos the latest game’s characters have been given since it launched.Nintendohas finally confirmed Sora, the final fighter added toSmash Ultimate, will be getting his very own amiibo figure. The exact release date for Sora’s Smash amiibo wasn’t given, just a vague 2024 release window.

Despite all of the other characters with Smash amiibos, there was a fear among collectors that Sora might not get one. Since theKingdom Heartsprotagonist is technically aDisneycharacter, there was a very real chance Nintendo and Disney would butt heads over Sora having what is technically a toy released under the Nintendo banner. It’s a minor miracle Sora made it into Smash at all, so consider this amiibo an extension of that miracle.

Sora’s figure wasn’t the only amiibo news we got during today’s Direct. Tears of the Kingdom’s Ganondorf and Zelda amiibos were shown again and now have release dates. The Ganondorf amiibo modeled after the image of the baddie people were thirsting over prior to the latest Zelda game’s launch, which I’m assuming is a little more than a happy accident, and the Zelda amiibo will be released on November 3.

Sora Amiibo

Sora’s amiibo is real and coming in 2024. The final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character to get his own figure, something that wasn’t a sure thing due to Kingdom Hearts' Disney connection.

The amiibo news didn’t stop there either. On top of the Zora and Tears of the Kingdom additions, Nintendo also revealed a release date for Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s next amiibos. Noah and Mio figures will be available from July 11, 2025. The two will join Pyra and Mythra whose amiibos will also be available as a double pack next year.

All of the amiibos announced will be joiningthree brand new Splatoon 3 figurescoming before the end of 2023. Frye, Shiver, and Big Man were all confirmed to be getting their very first amiibos earlier this year.
