After multiple delays and years of hype, it’s now less than a month untilStarfieldis finally here. A month that will hopefully fly by since we’re all now playingBaldur’s Gate 3. Starfield might well require a little bit of your attention as soon as this Wednesday, though. That’s because it looks like its preload will be available from August 9, allowing you to install the game so it’s ready to go as soon as midnight hits in your part of the world on release day.

The reveal that Starfield’s preload will potentially be available later this week was made onAmazonand spotted by stopmrdomino who proceeded to share their discovery onResetEra. The preload info isn’t on Amazon’s Starfield page but instead included in the notes for the 1TBXbox Series Sbundle that comes with a copy ofBethesda’s sprawling space RPG.

Whether you preload it as soon as you can or not, it’s definitely recommended that you install Starfield before September 6. A game with 1,000 planets was always going to be big, and itsXbox Store listinghas confirmed it will need an eye-watering 125GB of storage space. That’s an eighth of the heftier Series S, and 25 percent of the launch version’s total storage. Time to make some room if you need it and download it early so you’re not left twiddling your thumbsticks on release day.

Considering Starfield is the first entry in an entirely new series, it’s amazing how much love it has already received. There are a few reasons for that, the leading one being whatXboxand Bethesda showed off of the game during its showcase. It’s also coming from a studio with dedicated fans of its great track record. Not to mention it’s coming at a time when Xbox owners are hungrier than ever for a groundbreaking exclusive. Suffice to say,Redfalldidn’t scratch that itch.

Some of those dedicated fans who have decided they love Starfield have already been putting in some serious legwork. Not only have they seeminglymanaged to piece together the game’s skill tree, but there’s alsoa fanmade galactic mapthose who have created it are fairly certain reflects the one we’re all going to be exploring a month from now.

Starfield’s preload potentially going live this Wednesday shouldn’t be all that surprising. Not only will Xbox want as many people as possible to have it ready to go, but Phil Spencer has already been playing it, and claims he has been playing it since December. It’s also a reminder to those currently engrossed in Baldur’s Gate 3, which isn’t available on Xbox, that Starfield is coming.
