The rest of September and the entirety of October are so packed with big video game releases, it might feel likeSuper Mario Bros. Wonder’s arrival is still a long way off. In reality, the first truly new 2DMariogame in well over a decade is only a little more than five weeks away. Probably time to get those pre-orders in if you haven’t already, especially with so many other games to potentially buy over the course of the next few months, and if you pre-order Wonder through Walmart, you’ll get a pretty special bonus.

Walmart has revealed pre-orders of Mario Wonder will come with a free pack of exclusive trading cards. Each pack will contain ten cards, but the contents of each will differ with every pre-order. What you find in your pack will be pulled from a pool of 15 base cards, four holofoil cards, and a very limited edition Elephant Mario card. There will only be 1,000 Elephant Mario cards and each of them will be numbered, making yours truly unique if you’re lucky enough to find one.

Mario Wonder will mark the start of a new era forNintendoin a lot of different ways. Not only because it is changing up the original 2D Mario formula for the first time in a long time, but also because it will be the first Mario game in which the lead character has a voicethat won’t feature Charles Martinet. The man who has voiced Mario, Luigi, and Wario for more than 20 years has stepped down from the role and is now a Mario ambassador. Nintendo has confirmed the new actors for the characterswon’t be revealed until you roll credits on Wonder.

Wonder will also almost definitely be one of the final big Nintendo games that launches exclusively onSwitch. Rumors continue to swirl suggesting the console’s successor will be revealed very soon and likely go on sale at some point in 2024.
