There has never really been a point in the last 60 years whenBarbiedolls weren’t a big deal, but the iconic toy line has become potentially more popular than ever before in 2023 thanks to the success of its Margot Robbie-led movie. A number of dolls based on looks and characters from the box office busting film have been released since, but now Mattel is doing something a little different. It has turned three characters from Ted Lasso into Barbie dolls.
Revealed earlier this week, all three Ted Lasso dolls are already available to buy, and one of them is based on the character after which the show is named. I guess that makes him more of a Ken than a Barbie, although Ted’s outlook on life feels closer to Barbie’s than it does Ken’s. The two other Ted Lasso characters to get their very own Mattel dolls are far more Barbie-leaning - Rebecca Welton, the chairperson of AFC Richmond, and her best friend and former assistant, Keely Jones.

Each of the dolls comes with a few of their own accessories - a football for Ted, naturally - and they’re dressed in attire that is instantly recognizable from the show. Helpful as there’s really only so much you can do with a Barbie doll to make it look like the character on which the design has been based. While each of the dolls looks like who they are supposed to be, the clothes they’re wearing certainly help. As does Ted’s mustache.
Barbie Signature Ted Lasso Collectible Doll
A number of characters from Ted Lasso have been turned into official Barbie dolls. This Ted Lasso doll has the main character in his AFC Richmond tracksuit and with a football under his arm.
As noted, all three dolls are available now through the links above and below, and all three cost $50 each. A lot of money for a Barbie doll, but between these being a part of a limited edition crossover and the clothes and accessories they come with, they were always going to be a little more expensive than most Barbies. A crossover between Mattel and Warner Bros, this is another indicator that the studio is deadly serious about turning toys into movies and vice versa off the back of the Barbie movie’s success.

Barbie Signature Rebecca Welton Collectible Doll
A handful of Ted Lasso characters have officially been turned into Barbie dolls. The Rebecca Welton doll has been modeled after the AFC Richmond chairperson and comes with an expensive-looking handbag.
Shortly after it was evident Barbie would be a box office hit, a list of toys that will be getting their own movies that read a little like a joke started to circulate online, but apparently, it’s not a joke at all. The list includes pretty much every toy series Mattel has ever created that enjoyed even a modicum of success including Polly Pocket and Uno.

Barbie Signature Keely Jones Collectible Doll
Three of Ted Lasso’s lead characters have been turned into officially licensed Barbie dolls. Keely Jones, the character from the show most like stereotypical Barbie, is one of them, her doll sporting a pink dress and a fur scarf.
